OK I'll bite. What's wrong with sync? Mine has it, and it works great. My friends have a new Chevy, and can't sync to their cell phone unless they pay for OnStar. My Sync to my phone is free.

As someone else pointed out I incorrectly called it Sync and I meant My Ford Touch.

MFT had a lot of teething pains since it has been introduced. Some people have no issues and others cannot seem to make it work.

I had Sync version 1 in my F150 and loved it. The MFT in my F350 is a lot more finicky. Nothing critical and more annoying but I have learned to live with it.

I had read elsewhere that many of Ford's initial quality complaints were related to MFT. So IMO that somewhat skews the overall data for relatively minor issues.

How could anyone possibly question a JD Power rating? :R :B

My only issue with these is the simple question "What constitutes a problem?". Not all problems are created equal. Rather be in the dealer for simple stuff than major things.

My Taurus has had it's rear tail lights replaced 3x under warranty (peeling chrome, a known issue). That could indicate a quality issue but IMHO it is nothing to worry about.

I also notice how they dance around what is a quality issue - "engineering" vs "genuine bad parts" yet fail to give examples or say what is what.

All in all, I think Ford sank because of My Ford Touch. IIRC BMW and Audi sank as well when iDrive and MMI were introduced. They say GM's CUE is also a PITA to use so it should be interesting to see the results next year.

Also, the most important is the 3-5+ year dependability.

What do you expect when you only ask new GM customers.

Look out ford for those new trucks with that proven duramax Allison behind it!! No need for a eco boost just grab a duramax !!!!!!2500 and do it all!!!

One thing I learned about JD Powers. They have a survey for EVERYTHING. In the advertising world, you cherry pick the survey that meets your goal and push it. Of course, there may be 10 other surveys that are not so favorable.

JD Powers is a for profit company and they will have something that fits your NEED!

Proof of the old saying "changes aren't permanent...but change is."

A few brands who had built their rep on reliability are down on the list, while a few that have taken beatings in the past are now toward the top.

Used to hear that "if you buy a Porsche, buy 2 so you have 1 to drive when the other's in the shop." Looks like times have changed.

A few key personnel changes, especially in the engineering & QC departments, can make a big difference over a couple of year period.

I have to wonder if a few of the brands toward the bottom let the accountants win the majority of arguments over the engineers, and would reverse course if they had a time machine. :W
