Good Price and Services for Storing TT in Winter

We live in the Minneapolis area and more specifically in a Town home complex, so storing our trailer can be..... Challenging. During the summer we live it at my parents house, they have a 3rd stall they are not using but don't want it there in the winter. Can't blame them... So the past couple of years we have store it at the dealer for $50/month. They claim to remove all the snow and they will prep it for us. The prep is an additional charge... So my question is I've called around to a few other places in town and they seem competitive, does anyone else have other suggestion or options they know of? How about other services I should make sure of???

When we were living in Edina MN I stored a vehicle at the State Fair grounds. Inside. Cost was about $50. They sent me a card with a date and time they wanted me to bring my car. I left the keys in the ignition in case they had to move the car because someone needed to move their car out. In the spring they would send me another card with a date and time that I had to be there to remove my car. I believe they are still doing this. (using all the empty exhibit halls/buildings. This may be true also in other cities/towns).

They do that here at the State Fair grounds but I don't believe they have a very big overhead door for most of the buildings. I believe it's pretty popular among the boaters and maybe RVers that have a trailer that isn't quite 10ft tall.

Edit: I'm glad I found this thread because it got me thinking. I decided to call the fair grounds today and see exactly what the size limitations were for their buildings and it happens that the doors are large enough to accommodate a diesel pusher MH so I think I'll be safe with my 13ft tall trailer. The price comes in at a $285.00 fee for storage from Oct 15 - April 7th which makes it right around $50/mo. A screaming deal around here.

Here in Northern BC we store our 26ft trailer at the local fairground in one of the barns. Storeage period is from Oct 7 until April 15. $285.

In the west metro you'll pay about $10/foot minimum for indoor storage for the season, usually mid-October to mid-April. Some charge a flat fee for the same timeframe. We're west metro and pay $320 for 6 months, size not a consideration (thanfully). Look for storage with a concrete floor and one that hasn't had feed stored for the summer. Mice will definitely want to share your spot.

Lots of farms out this direction are looking for folks needing storage. Craigslist is a good place to start. We've always had good luck at the fairgrounds too. Try to avoid the animal barns if possible, again because they attract mice. They will let you store your items year-round but will notify you when you need to remove your items for the fair, usually for two weeks max.

In this area, they pack them in like sardines indoors. Can't even squeeze a 10-year-old between them. So don't plan any post season trips.

Winter sure takes a toll on campers. A couple hundred bucks is a good investment to keep them out of the elements.

Definitely check with the area fairgrounds. Also wouldn't hesitate to check with nearby dealers other than the one you mentioned. Know anyone with a farm?? Know anyone with a business with decent parking area in a safe place??

When I hear these prices, makes me even happier that we made the investment in $$ and a lot of sweat to build our Rooport/Rockyport. Started to make it just for our ROO, but what with one thing and another, it now houses the Rockwood, my little convertible, DH misc stuff and log splitter. Used to house his RC trailer as well until the ROO became the Rockwood. Nice to have it undercover 24/7.

We store ours indoors on a concrete floor at our local fairgrounds for about what you are paying the local dealer. I'd suggest getting it indoors and out of our Minnesota winters. The ice/thaw and freeze cycles/heavy snows can take a real toll on the roofs and seams, not to mention the winter sun damage on the exterior.

If your interested, PM me and I can get you the contact info for the guy handling the storage at our fairgrounds. We're on your side of the Metro so it wouldn't be far away (Howard Lake off US Hwy 12-Wright County Fairgrounds). We just confirmed our spot for this winter. Sounds like there might be a waiting list for new renters but he might have room for you (might depend on big a camper you have). Very secure and very reasonable.

Storage rates depend on the area... with respect to the price per acre.

Rates in SE WI for a 20' TT would be around $75/month outdoor and $175/month indoor. At these prices it almost makes more sense to leave it at a seasonal site for $1900/year.

It depends on your area. Here in SE MI, it is typically $1/foot for outdoor storage. But there are a lot of storage yards around here.

I was lucky to find a retiree who needed a hobby. He bought a defunct fencing company's property that had roughly 10 pole barns on it. I pay $85/month for indoor storage. He also gives me place to plug in my battery maintainers. Above all that, this place is less than 2 miles from my house. I pay the guy 6 months at a time.

Just saying that there are deals to be had out there if you keep looking, you may be able to find one that works for you.
