Goodbye Little Trailer...

Yesterday, October 22, 2016, was both a sad day and a wonderful day. I towed my little Mountainview Retro 140 to Ancira RV in Boerne, TX, and traded it in for a 2017 Coachmen Freedom Express LTZ 192RBS.

Those of you who remember this past summer's heated discussion about camping with your spouses, will be happy to know that with this new beautiful and luxurious trailer, my wife is pledging to join me on a lot of trips. Therefore, I guess I qualify as married now.

I plan to blog about my adventures with this new trailer, the Colby 2.0, frequently. I switched out my site link to reflect this new blog.

Happy Trails!
  • I'm very happy for you Jim. My wife and I have done a trip with the Coachmen Owner's Association and really enjoyed it. We are very happy with our Coachmen Class C.

    Jim,

Nice floor plan. I imagine if your spouse is like mine, the ready-to-sleep double bed was mostly the clincher.

We once camped when the kids were small. Our campers were small too. Hard on Mom. My DW didn't want another camper at all until after I bought a cheap $1200, beater MH just for my son, grandsons and me to fish and hunt. Then she hinted that she would go with... if I hadn't bought such an ugly wreck.

In my defense, the dirty, ugly old MH had new tires, great A/C, a new tranny, a good generator for the boonies and a hitch for a trailered deep freeze. Perfect. But I'd trade it all for her sweet company even if I had to sleep on the cold, bare ground.

So while we were RV shopping, I made sure she realized that a lot of moderate sized newer campers have their own bedroom. And bathroom. We did improve our first bath by installing an RV curved shower rod. Roomier than at home! A virtual palace! Voila!

    Enjoy your roomy new mansion.

While I personally would not describe the OP's new camper as a "mansion" his new Freedom Express 192RBS nonetheless offers pretty well anything one could want in a couple's trailer that is easy to tow and can be placed without effort on pretty well any size campsite. Newer versions such as the OP's benefit from two significant advantages over our 2014 - an modified front wall profile which allowed Coachmen to stretch the bed length to a full 80" without having to extend the trailer's overall length from it's original 22' 6" and 2) a standard size vent over the bed area (a problem I solved by instead using a window mounted fan).

    Congrats to the OP! :B

It's not a double, never has been, it's a queen - short RV queen size in earlier versions but now full size 80" x 60" in the OP's 2017 model Coachmen Freedom Express 192RBS ... a definite advantage for any owner. :B
