Not so.
If you are at a place where there is no hookups and you wait till tank is full to break camp to dump there IS and can be smells from the contents in the holding tank. Add high heat weather conditions and you will have odors every time you flush.
There is NO p-trap in an RV toilet. When you flush and that blade opens it is a direct shot to the black tank. If you have a full tank, and it's blazing hot outside every time you flush the odor does come into your RV, IF you have not used a black tank odor control treatment.
I agree under the conditions you described, but it sounded to me like the OP was having lingering odor issues even after flushing, maybe I misunderstood. That is what I was addressing in my reply.
