High wind speeds and towing?

Thank you for the replies and for the record I'm glad we waited it out. Our only connection was two radio stations reporting either 30 or 50 mph winds and we were getting rocked pretty good with the stabs down. White knuckling thru the Rockies never makes for a good day and getting hit by a hard blast while taking a hairpin curve can't be good.

We have sway control and it's never been a issue. That doesn't keep the whole rig from being pushed into the next lane. We drove back from Seattle and hit high winds in Wyoming. The semis weren't being toppled, they were being pushed off the road.

My rig tows pretty good, and I can feel when the trailer is starting to be affected. When it gets to be work to control everything it is time to pull over.

In some parts of Arizona, if you get serious winds the dust will obscure your visibility and a lot of fatalities occur under those conditions. You don't want to be out in it.

The Hensley is great at keeping the trailer stable, so I don't get any sway in high winds, but at some point the winds get strong enough to outright just blow the trailer over on its side....not sure what the magic number is in terms of wind speed, but agree with previous posters that if the semis aren't running you shouldn't either.

If the trucks are pulling off I would recommend you do the same.

Same here the higher the wind the slower I go, I had to, Encountered strong winds and gusts last week in Nevada, I wanna say 30 mph winds with higher gusts, I would have set it out if they got any stronger.

The higher the wind, the slower I go.
