Honda 2000 Security?

Trying not to invent a wheel. We found if we put our trailer hitch carrier in upside down there is space to carry our Honda 2000 genny.
What is a good way to anchor it in place to prevent it from wandering around and then secure it in place to prevent it from growing legs?

I don't not want to go to an enclosed box that I have to pull it out of every time. We will have some type of cover for visual and dust protection.

+1

lock it up or put it away when not in camp and go have fun. Most of us all have insurance on our rigs and trucks home ect. Between the boat and firearms and other toys its to much to worry about insure it and go have fun!!!!!!!!!!

I'm with SuperDave, in the realm of a rig and trip like we are planning I can guarantee something unexpected will happen, something will break and the closest parts 4000 miles and two countries away, such is life, you just got to deal with it.

It is amazing how quickly these can go off subject. The decision is the fancy bracket arrangement as it will be basically permanently mounted there. Then probably a Camping World Cover. I may take it off for summer storage as we are planning on leaving the rig in Costa Rica or Panama for the summer next year. Secure storage is easy in Costa Rica and supposedly so in Panama from my source who lives there.

I just make sure my dogs leash reaches the generator when its in use. I don't even have to lock it. Never an issue. Hidden away when not in use.

I bought a 8 foot heavy duty chain from Lowes and a huge heavy duty Masterlock and depending on the ground clearance at the camp site, I secure it to the running board of my truck, or the folding metal steps of the camper.

Like other's say, if someone wants it bad enough they will get it. If someone starts fiddling with my generator and I hear that chain link start moving I just grab my 44 magnum and investigate. 🙂

What a super cool mount! I have a large enough rear bumper that I can actually sit a Honda 2000 on, so this is the ticket!!

Thanks for the post!!

Thanks for the help, I like Thundercloud's solution also. It will be covered unless in use. And yes it might get popped, but you don't seem many folks running around Guatemala with grinders or cable cutters, a machete is more the style.

Next to an enclosure, I'd say that what thundercloud posted is probably your best bet. Don't forget to insure it, just in case.

This looks like the most secure and best solution. Thanks sharing.

IMO Only way is out-of-sight and out-of mind.

My 2KW Honda is secured in the bed of my truck bed which also is lockable. My Honda Generator goes where I go.

'NO WAY WOULD I LEAVE MY HONDA 2KW GENERATOR AT A CAMPGROUND' unattended...

I pull it out onto my tailgate at 8AM each morning for three hours to re-charge my 255AH battery bank when camping off the power grid so that we can do all of this all over again the next day/night run off the batteries..

Just how long do you think this Honda 2KW Generator would last left unattended at a campground. Might as well put a sign on it that says "TAKE ME.... TAKE ME"

Every thief carries one of these

You also see alot of CUT HONDA GENERATOR HANDLES on EBAY and CRAIGS LISTS... Just saw two a couple of weeks ago on CRAIGS list. Wonder why they have CUT HANDLES haha...

Been keeping my 2KW Honda secured out-of-sight since 2009

But this is only me talking...

Mine is bolted through the feet and into the front rack. Then the genny is wrapped to the rack with a snake lock. But no matter what you do someone will find a way to steal it.

The amount of damage you incur during the theft must be taken into consideration when securing your valuables. For example, when I go to Detroit in my crappy car (never take a good one) I just leave it unlocked when I park it. That way I don't come back to broken locks or glass. I never have to worry about it getting stolen either, it's a stick shift HAHA.

Ditto....those 2000 units are small and light enough that you can put it in a box each time.....and then cable lock it when it's in use.
They cost to much to leave out in view for someone to come and take it....and take it they will...sorry to say.
