Even the Ford Falcon Ute a car/ truck would put not only the RAM but other 1/2 tons to shame
The car in the OP, the Taurus SHO has more payload than a Ram Ecodiesel.
No Guts, No Glory, Ram!
Maybe got my message mixed up, the Ford Falcon FPV has no relation to a U.S. car or Pickup. It has a truck chassis, and a locked differential and a raised chassis for some Off Road work - itguy08Explorer

Not up to date on the SHO's but back in 1985 I had a Mustang SVO which is a 4 banger forced. It gave the V8 stang everything it could muster. It also gave great MPG when driving normal :W
Funny it also had a on-off switch, as in turbo or non. Took me years to find that switch :W
Why would you ever turn that turbo off? My first car was an 86 Mustang 2.3 (Non turbo). Reliable but utterly gutless. 88 HP doesn't buy you much in the power department! - RobertRyanExplorer

The half-ton Ram with the Italian diesel seems to be selling well too. Of course, their half-ton payload seems to be adding up to about 800 pounds for them. Maybe a 1/3 ton?
That is the difference between the Ram and a Global 3 litre Diesel Pickup PAYLOAD
The 5th Wheeler is 27ft long

I'll bet the "ECO" designation is definitely out the window now
Not at all...look at a car like the SHO, once at speed in OD and cruising, little to no boost and very good gas mileage. Same as the advantage of the EB in the 150 trucks....small motor and good mileage, twin turbos only make power when you need it.

That's what they want you to think. Real world says different. The EcoBoost V6 in the new Lincoln Navigator is rated at 16 mpg combined. Same as the GMC Yukon Denali XL 6.2L V8. They make great power for their size, and a great for towing due to the design (turbos and DI), however, mpg misers EcoBoosts are not.
I own a 2010 SHO and for the size (over 4,000 lbs), AWD, and power on a true highway cruise - cruise set at 75, I can see 26 MPG. Been perfectly happy with it since then. It's a fast car when you want it to be, handles well, and is just fun. - dockmasterdaveExplorerA few weeks ago I was going to Sanibel Island for work. It is a 45 MPH road with no traffic lights or stop signs.
I took a picture of the dash when I got there. Over the last hour I had averaged 28 MPG.
YUP all the people who don't have one can tell you" when not towing these things suck gas".
B.S.
Did you ever get 30 mpg, going down a mountain with a 460 big block?
HP and torque like a diesel, pulls like a diesel, but runs like an old GTO when you nail it, and is capable of over 30 mpgs if you keep you foot out of the turbos.
Personally, I can't keep my foot out of them. I enjoy it.
If you want to know what it's like, ask someone who owns one. - Airstreamer67ExplorerThe half-ton Ram with the Italian diesel seems to be selling well too. Of course, their half-ton payload seems to be adding up to about 800 pounds for them. Maybe a 1/3 ton?
- hone_eagleExplorerEcoboost is a very cheap diesel alternative and that all it is.Ford knew the constant bleeting from all corners "All I want is a small diesel" would evaporate under the reality of the cost ,
Ecoboost is Ford's response to a imaginary market and since they are sold out I think they got it right. - horton333ExplorerECO is just a marketing slogan? I'm shocked. :B :B :B :B :B :B
