I almost cheated on my truck yesterday.

Mitch, I know what you mean about liking the truck (except for the diesel part). I have a 12 Ram 4x4 with the Cummins. Great truck. Five weeks ago come Saturday an 80’ sweet gum tree attacked it. Crushed the cab and the bed. What an awful day. So I went shopping. Yuck. The more I looked the less I liked the new models. Yeahhhh, I’m fixing it!!! It’s coming out of reconstructive surgery Friday or Monday. Man I can hardly wait!

Oh man... That had to hurt! I feel for ya. I would do the same thing as long as it was not considered a total.. That's a pretty good turn a round time. They must just be replacing the cab with another one? Hope it's better than new! Mitch

It took me some 13 years of owning my old 97 F150 that I bought used with 65k miles on it and traded it with 255k miles on it (and still running strong) for the brand new 13 F150 I have now.

I've got some 87k miles on the 13 and very happy with it. Does all I need it to do and I have even upped my TT by some #2000 and it still does all I need it to do..

Anyway, I'm a faithful truck owner and I know I will be having to trade the 13 in at some point.... But, it'll bring a tear to my eye when I do it, just as it did when I signed over the title on that old 97.... I still wish I owned it... Just not in the cards to own both..

But, as what has always been said in life... It's "okay" to look... It's just when you "go all in" is where it's really a 'sin'! :)

I understand the clarity comment, but you have the MacDaddy of D/A trucks so you are forgiven. If that what it was it would be in my driveway right now.

I couldn't disappoint my 04 RAM, it has never disappointed me, 100% faithful. At 100k miles, in top condition, and averaging 6k per year, I will probably give out before the truck does.

I've done the same a few time over the last 18 years. Guess I'll just keep what I have It's sereved me well and no problems over the years.

The struggle is hard sometimes. I’ve been wanting a ford 6.2 or 7.3 lately. But I’m currently saving my pennies to buy a house with a shop (or possibly build). So in the long run it’ll be worth it.

You're better off just keeping the old girl IMO. The other truck might have been a pretty blue, clean and one owner but it's even older than your truck. Other than 4WD, no increase in performance or capability. No doubt it's got issues that you would discover as time went on. I'm sure your older truck has some issues too, but at least you know what they are!
