I finally made the change

After several years of towing with a 1/2 ton I finally made the change to a 3/4 ton. I haven't had a chance to try it out yet, campers in the shop for a couple minor repairs. My last truck was a 2015 Max Tow GMC, pulled my 9000lb trailer great but I was getting pushed around more than I wanted. My new truck is a 2015 RAM 2500 4X4 Laramie with the Cummins. All the Dodge haters please don't bash and ruin my excitement. Never owned a diesel, except for my farm tractor. I am very impressed by the power. Rides good, mileage is better than my old truck. I can't wait to get the trailer behind it.
Let me try the pic again

I bought a new Ram diesel almost a year ago and I've loved every minute of it. I've had two and they have both been great trucks. You got a nice looking truck, sir.

Sorry I started such a storm by being happy I purchased a new truck. My truck is not better than yours, it's just happens to be the one I liked. It also just happens the truck is a Ram. I was hoping to share my new toy with others that share the same interest.

One reason I started this thread is my new truck has a diesel engine. No I'm not saying everyone needs a diesel, I have pulled many miles with a gasser. This is my first diesel engine. I am sure I will have questions about my truck and it's needs before my journey ends. Thanks for all the positive comments on my new purchase. I'll let you know how it pulls in a couple weeks.

I'm a Chevy guy, but looked at Dodge before I found mine. You have to get what you like. Diesel pulls better than gas. To each his/her own. Let us know how you like it when pulling.

Jim,

Thanks for your service. Again my first comment was not meant to upset you. If you find the term "mafia" insulting then I apologize but that's a pretty common term used to describe the Cummins crowd. Again its because you protect your brand and are loyal to it. That's not a bad thing. I hope you can see that I viewed your response as your attempt to start a fight. Since that apparently was not your intent then I again apologize. Have a good day and happy towing.

We're good...but I haven't owned the Ram trucks long enough to be a brand loyalist, though I AM sold on this truck...Chevy trucks, 35 years, Ram trucks, not quite 6 years yet...Never even owned a hemi or a 5.9 diesel, so I don't even qualify as part of the " Cummins crowd, though again, I'm now a Cummins guy to be sure...and love the truck.

You take care and enjoyi your camping...maybe one day we'll meet up we can and swap military Stories....:)

Later buddy,
Jim

Sounds like a plan Jim. BTW I'm Dave. Both my parents were in the Air Force so I grew up around the community and even though I'm in the Army, I'm currently at an Air Force base here for school at Maxwell AFB.

The Cummins is certainly a solid engine. I"m sure it'll last you a long time. Happy trails along the way.

Dave, be safe out there buddy....They put you in a good school,(USAF:B)....Tell your parents an old Staff Sergeant, (71-75..Da Nang .72-73), is giving them a shout out,.

Nice truck OP, the last Cummins I drove was my 09' and I loved the power of it, I can only imagine how nice they are now.

Also like Fordlover said, you didn't stir up anything. Some people on this forum just have nothing better to do than pound away on their keyboards, making little jabs that derail threads a bit. Everyone needs a hobby I guess...:R

You didn't start a storm, someone else did that for you. Congrats on the new ride, I'm sure you'll be very pleased with the pulling power and fuel economy. I look forward to hearing your first trip report, and a comparison to your 1/2 ton.

*see, it can be done....posting without a subtle jab at someone else's brand or putting on a skirt and picking up pom pom's.
