I Made A Replacement Escape Hatch
A good improvement project even if you don't need one. So much nicer.
I had to design and fabricate my own replacement escape hatch cover since replacements are no longer being made. It was cheaper than other new options but then you need to figure the labor cost. This cover has the advantages of being clear or see through and insulated by two panels separated by an air gap. The new hinge is much more robust and being a metal rigid design, it offers better security. This would be a good project just to have the improvements this unit provides. This project does require a higher skill level. Enjoy the video.
