Okay, just read you want it for a hair dryer. That will require at 800-1500 watts. According to my wife, the small dryers don't work all that great. She has a lot of hair and has tried a lot of dryers. With her current Conair on the "warm" setting, I know it pulls about 800 watts. On high, over 1700 watts.
With that much demand, I think your only choice is to mount it near the battery box, in order to keep the cables short near the batteries. The basement fan could be wired to a manual switch for ventilation. Not sure how much or little air that small fan moves. Probably not a lot. Maybe look at upgrading to a higher CFM.
