- work2muchExplorerThe appeal to a fire for me is the crackling and fussing around with a real wood fire and even then we don't have very many.
Personally I think those rings are silly but to each their own. Also, I'm not sure I would feel comfortable carrying a propane tank around in the cab of the truck. - firemedic1992ExplorerI have one and use it when I can’t have a fire due to a fire ban (but propane fire pits are still allowed).
I like the fact I can have the fire and not smell like smoke after.
I can have it in an open car port, gazebo for heat to keep my gathering outside rather than in. - HappytravelerExplorerWe have this Fire Pit. Camp Chef We store the fire pit in a bend in Motorhome. We are thinking about getting a second propane tank for it. It does put out a lot of heat. We have the same fire pit at home on our decking, but converted it to natural gas. During the winter we use it every evening. I love it because it keeps you warm without the smoke.
- Reality_CheckNomad IIOf course they're silly. But, who cares? We use it often. Snow camping a lot, and when there is a burn ban on, whether in a camp ground, forest or where ever, the silly things are usually still allowed. That makes it a silly thing that is often the ridicule behind real envy...
Storage is a problem for many, as is hauling an extra tank. I'm set up so that I can run it off the aux fitting on the camper as an option. Usually don't, but it saves an extra tank.
Silly things... - fpooleExplorerDepends....
If you like a Quick N Easy campfire they are great. Especially if traveling solo...
Easy to set up, Turn on/Turn off, don't have to wait for fire to go out if you need to leave. They give off heat.
I'd recommend a 3-gal + propane bottle, not too big.
The CampFire in a can is a good one... - brholtExplorer IIWe also have one. Brother thought it was silly when we bought it but after seeing it in use changed his mind and bought one too. A lot of heat, works well when you just want to be lazy about setting up a fire and works with fire bans.
- PhotomikeExplorer IIIHow long do they burn on a 3 or 5 lb tank?

They vary brand to brand and if you run them wide open..
Mine uses a pound an hour wide open.
I’ve had one since 1995 and have sold a few thousand.
I loved it when a couple would stop and look, be warming their hands while the man says how silly they are. The wife, who is now warming her butt says “Honey, I want one of these. Another customer.
I love a real fire. But it is so nice sometimes to go out and light the gas campfire with an adult beverage, enjoy it for 30 minutes, then turn it off and go in.
While you have to carry a lp bottle, you DONT have to carry firewood. - DutchmenSportExplorerDelete
- GordonThreeExplorerIt is a waste of money, BUT is that a bad thing? If you enjoy having a no hassle fire, why not? It's cheap entertainment I guess. Almost all of RVing is a waste of money, but it's a very popular waste.
