as some of you may have read I just purchased my first TT and I noticed last night while walking around it felt kind of unstable. Looking under the TT I noticed that it has no scissor jacks to level it out or even keep it stable. All it has is the crank on the tongue up front...nothing underneith at 4 corners to keep it stable....is this unusual? any suggestions on aftermarket stuff that I could buy to remedy this issue?

Older trailers did not have them.Go to any rv dealer you can get them or go online ebay ,tweetys ,camping world ,adventure rv.There are several styles and types the most common are scissor jacks

Unless it's like a tear drop (but then you would not be walking around in it) that has not had some sort of stabilizer system (legs or jacks).

So, you have a couple of options. You can take your unit to an authorized dealer with a service department and have them weld on stabalizers. Or use jacks but I think that would become a hassle. The service department may not charge you for the welding if you buy the stabalizers from them. We have some trailrunners at our lot that dont have stabalizers on them and are brand new. It is done that way to cut down on some of the cost for the customer on the front end, but later they run into the same problem and end up needing stabalizers. If you purchased new, speak to the dealer and see if they wont add them for you. If your unit is older, go with my initial suggestions.Good Luck

That is a little unusual but would depend on the trailer. What year, make and model TT is it? As others have said the scissor jacks are readily available. Welcome to the forum.

Another thing to think about; Those scissors jacks like posted above and like the ones I use on my TT from a old car; are not as stable when fully extended. And, as you get to the point of max extension you are turning the jack a lot to gain just a little height. When camping on uneven ground I use blocks under the jacks. If you use some nice big 2x8s you have a stable platform and don't have to spend so much time cranking on the jack. On my TT where I store the jacks inside I can keep them well oiled and turn them with my fingers until I get them up to the frame.

I had some of those pyramid screw type stabilizers with a previous TT I owned and they were so cheaply built and loose that they didn't stabilize much. I like the car jacks I have now much better.

Most folks light the fridge the evening before. It takes several hours to cool down completely. Try to pre-cool or pre-freeze all your refrigerated items prior to placing in the TT fridge. Also, keep the fridge as level as possible. Lastly, check to see if there is a 12 volt fan in the exhaust, it will increase efficiency tremendously. There are even solar powered fans available for this purpose complete with installation instructions.

nope nothing like that in the trailer of underneath....but aside from propane these are the first things i'm going to buy....finally had the change to fire everything up yesterday, stove, water heater, and heater and everything works great....took awhile for the fridge to light.....how long should it take for the fridge and freezer to get cold?

he did say that there was a bag of levelers in the compartment below the beds but they look like square yellow lego type things and not the standard jacks that i've seen to help support the corners of other travel trailers....are those the ones you are talking about?

The bag of lego's are to put under your tires to level the trailer from side to side. You lay them on the ground and build them up high enough then roll the low side trailer tires onto them and level the the sides.

What I talking about will look like a pyramid that's open in the middle and on the sides, probably made of an alum alloy.

Nope, But those are very important, and great to have. You use them to "level" the trailer side to side, by driving up on them. You can stack them pretty much as high as needed to level the trailer. Then you level front to back with the tongue jack, and after that, you use the jacks under the corners to stabilize the TT.

my mid to late 90's Mallard came without levelers, installed scissor type by bolting on.. think we used bolts and lock nuts, but I am not sure, just remember drilling forever to attach to frame. funny thing is back then, I don't remember anyone telling me not to use them as levelers.. and I am pretty sure we did.. sure is great what we can learn from this site.
