Jayco 23B Mattress Issue - Unevenness

2007 Jayco 23B. Two-piece mattress set up with the narrower piece having a built-in offset. When the bed is assembled, there seems to be some unevenness between two pieces that causes me to roll toward the joint between them. Looked at it carefully and checked it with a straight edge; looks like I need a 1-inch thick "spacer" to fix it; I'm thinking of a piece of foam rubber of some sort.



Anyone else run into this issue? How did you fix it? Where might I find a suitable spacer locally?

    I believe Joann fabrics carries sheets of foam, might be worth a call if you have one locally.

    Well the unevenness causes more of a problem for my wife as she is a finicky sleeper...

    I found some 1-1/4" foam camping mats on Amazon that I'm going to try as spacers; I think they will work great.

    So you've got a 2" memory foam over the factory cushions, and the slightly uneven design is keeping you up?

    You sure you don't have a pea under the mattress?

    I think most any spacer would work. Maybe even a folded blanket.

    My wife couldn't feel more loved than she already does:W However, if I kept rolling, I'd end up pushing her through the canvas and out on the ground...very bad for marital bliss.:E

    I assume this also has you rolling towards your wife as well, possibly making her feel ... a bit more "LOVED" perhaps? You should seriously considered whether or not this is real problem.

    Our Roo had the same problem. To fix it I ended up lowering the bunk board a bit (that other short fixed mattress surface just inside the camper).

    Nice drawing! It so much nicer when someone provides a nice picture to explain what they are talking about. :-)

    I don't have an answer except that the camping mat seems like a good idea. Either that or a piece of 1" foam that you can cut to size.

    Our Jayco isn't like that. The mattress is folded right down the middle and the bunk surface is level with the "shelf" when open so no need for an offset.

    We have and use one as the top layer, I still want the mattresses to be even with each other. I may try a couple of camping mats.

    I would go with a memory foam topper, even if you got a 1" it would even it out better...we have a 3 inch and it's heavenly. We roll it up and put it in a sleeping bag bag when we aren't using camper.

    I'd hate to modify the mattress in the likely event that we will someday sell the camper and want to keep it as original as possible.

    We too use a 2" memory foam topper, but that doesn't help the uneveness.

    we had the Jayco 23 D, just didn't like the joint but what we did was cover the two with a really good memory foam mattress topper, loved it!
