Jayco 29qbs and yukon 2500 good combo?

Not sure what engine you have, but we pulled a Jayco Eagle 298BHS (9000lb) with a 2002 YukonXL 2500 4wd 3.73 rear end, 8.1L engine very successfully for a handful of years. We had an Equilizer hitch and were very happy with the set-up. If memory recalls the max tow rating on our vehicle was ~10,800lb.

We have the 6.0 engine. I think our limit is related to the tongue weight. As the stickers say we can have up to 2,320 cargo capacity and 10,000 towing but 1,000 on the tongue using our Equalizer bars.

I'd do it with my 2011 2500 Burb. That's the exact range I have been looking at for our next TT. I think we are going with the Keystone Outback 301. You may want to invest in a Sherline scale if you want to keep the TW under the limit.

Wow that's a low receiver rating especially for a 3/4 ton truck!

I wouldn't go over as a while back on here, people with GM trucks were having receiver failures from going over.

I'd see about getting a new reciever with a tongue rating of at least 1,250 lbs. That trailer is going to have a hitch rating over that 1000 lbs.

I run a 2500 HD 6.0 with factory 4.10 pulling a little 5000# trailer and do good but I'm not going to ever attempt to pull ANY amount of weight with ANY vehicle at 75mph like some of these 5th wheel diesel jockeys you will see out there. The day I picked up our camper (and nearing the end of the 180 mile trip home) some Andretti wannabe driving a Ford with what must have been a 35' 5th wheel in tow passed me like I was standing still and I was doing 65. High speed is never your friend driving a combination vehicle... that being said, if the weight is within your ratings you are good, period. I try not to let anyone goad me into flipping a huge bank-roll on some equipment just because I might be able to stomp the heck out of it and crest that hill doing 70+ because I might not survive the down-hill side IYKWIM. It's just not worth it. LOL

The 3/4 ton part is important to the stopping power. Long wheel base is also important. We have the XL version and tow 29 ft. ArticFox. No problems towing or stopping. Like said above keep speed reasonable. Safe travels.

Mikeup, there are no aftermarket receivers for 2007+ GM SUVs. There have been some reported failures of 2007+, but most are due to too much in weight carrying mode.

Wow, makes the trucks extra payload kind of useless unless you have a large family with a lot of gear. Hek my standard tow hitch is 10,500 lbs trailer/ 1,050 lbs tongue, and the Max Tow package is 11,500 trailer/ 1,150 lbs tongue. Then if you go up to a F250 it's 12,500 lbs trailer/ 1,250 lbs tongue.

Having a tongue weight limit of 1000 lbs is the lower 1/2 ton receiver ratings I've seen. I would think there would be an optional hitch to take advantage of the 3/4 ton capacities.

I load my 2004 K2500 (4) seater burb up to the gills. Typical holiday weekend involves 4 bikes, canoe, firewood, and cooler(s). 8600gvw and 2351 payload. The sub easily weighs 8300lbs withour little bunkhouse hybrid (5,000lb gvw).
