Just Suspension Recommendations - No Legal Weight Advice
Hello Fellow TC'ers.
I have read just about every post on this and several other forums regarding suspension upgrades for my 2001 F250 4x4 SRW. Maybe that's why I am confused! TMI - too much information. PLEASE DO NOT TURN THIS INTO A DISCUSSION OF LEGAL WEIGHT RATINGS ... I UNDERSTAND ALL OF THAT STUFF. I simply want to upgrade my truck's rear suspension to increase the load capacity and handling.
My truck has the OEM camper package which I believe gives me an upgraded rear spring set-up already (I might be wrong on this ... if so please correct me). My problem is ... when I loaded our new-to-us TC yesterday, the rear dropped about 3". Handling was somewhat affected with only a slight increase in sway (I know a heavier anti-sway bar like a Hellwig will help reduce this symptom) I also know better shocks will assist the bouncy-bouncy thingy (thinking Bilsteins 4600's over Rancheros 9000's here).
My question is ... what is the best way to go to get some of that 3' loaded drop back up to level and improved the truck's weight handling capacity. On my previous 1993 FORD E-350 Class C, I had a truck shop install an extra leaf on both rears which resulted in a "rise" of about 2" and a 1,000 pound payload increase.
I believe my options are:
1) adding another leaf;
2) SuperSprings;
3) Timbrens or;
4) airbags.
Based on your PERSONAL EXPERIENCE, which have you tried and what do you recommend for my situation? Thanks in advance, ~ Bugjr ~
