Lance 1130 on a Dodge 2500 2WD Quad 8 foot box

Can someone give me a little more information on how over weight a 2004 Lance 1130 would be on a 2004 Dodge Laramie 2500 2WD Quad with an 8 foot box. I understand the Lance 1130 weighs 2900lbs. dry. How would this rig combination handle with an extra leaf spring and E rated tires added? thanks for input.
  • I want to thank everyone for your prompt comments on my question. I think I will let this opportunity go by. cheers to everyone
  • I have hauled my 1998 Lance 990 Legend 11' 3" extended cab that was close to 4000 lbs. wet with 2006 2500 Quad cab CTD with no problems with a round trip from Dallas to Daytona beach and back with extra leaf spring in rear pack, air lift airbags, Bilstein shocks and stock forged aluminum wheels and Nitto 285/75r/17s high load index 3970 lbs. at 80 PSI. Since then though I decided to upgrade to the Vision 19.5 wheels and 19.5 16 ply tires and it was much better handling. Upgrade wheels and tires if you can to 19.5s.
  • I have a Lance 1030 on a 1996 dodge 2500. I've weighed the truck and camper at the local farm store. With a full tank of water but no food or clothes it's right at 3600 lbs. I'm under my rear tires rating by 500 lbs. My truck has the camper package so it came with upper overload springs and anti sway on the front and rear. I've added torklift stable loads and Bilstein shocks.
The truck handles the weight okay. I've never felt unsafe but I've also not tried going more a couple hours from home.
There's a guy on here with a 2004ish Chevy 2500 with the same camper who has been all over this wonderfull country.
Guess I'm saying it's okay to do what you want. Just letting your know what I've done.
  • If the 4,000 lb comment is right, you will be 20-25% overloaded.

I have a 1 ton single wheel and I wouldn't even think of putting a camper like that on my truck.
  • I have a 2001 Lance 1130 on my 06' usually. It feels pretty good on the dually but I'm not sure about a 2500 SRW without a good amount of suspension upgrades. Even then it might be a little much. Just my 2 cents.
  • I have a very similar size 11'3" 1998 lance 980. Wet you will be very close to 4000 pounds. I am sure you would not like it at all and will need many upgrades. Including Tires and Suspension. I have a 4000 pound payload on my 2011 Chevy 3500 and I am right at my limit.
  • You should already have E rated tires and your going to be 1000 to 1400# over your GVWR. I wouldn't even put that one on my 3500 SRW because I would be at my max payload before passengers or supplies.
