Large (largest) Travel Trailer

Not to long ago anything over 37-37 feet was concidered a park model or perminent located trailer. I guess times have changed as people are towing 39 feet. Not thinking there are many or any larger.

Sandpiper has a few which are up to 44' long overall. They call them destination trailers, but only because they have a house fridge and electric water heater, but fully self-contained is optional (including reasonable tanks sizes, and optional extra insulation).

I believe 40ft is the standard max length for travel trailers per state laws. There are a few states that allow slightly longer, but I don't think any are shorter. So, 39 feet is about the longest manufacturers are going to build - anything longer will have very limited sale potential.

Edit: to clarify, this is regarding towing the trailer on roads. If you're looking for a park unit, that would be different.

From personal experiences, I see little reason for a TT that long when a fiver is so much easier to pull.

If I could pull a 5th wheel with my truck configuration I would. I have a box in the bed that takes up about 5 feet of it. That's why I need a bumer pull.

The OP indicated that due to his pickup's configuration, he can't go with a 5er.

To the OP: is your intention to travel around multiple states? Travel in one state only?

If staying in one state, then look at that state's max trailer length allowed to make sure you're legal.

If traveling multiple states, then you really don't want to go longer.

I use a trailer for several purposes;

A couple of times a year we will take multi-week vacations, we live near Fort Worth, Texas and just spent 3 weeks in the mountains of southern NM.

I travel all over Texas and Oklahoma for business and try to stay in the trailer while I am out of town if it will be more than 2 days.

I compete in AKC Field Trials with Labrador Retrievers and spend 15-20 4 day weekends a year in the trailer.

In reality it is more of a home than a camper, the 338 is the closest we have found yet that is almost a 5th wheel. We looked at a park model but with an empty tongue wt of 1800-1900 lbs that's to much for the ol F250.
