I've taken 4 trips back and forth across Washington State since November. It turned in to my daily driver this past winter. I've racked up nearly 6000 miles on it since last June when I bought it.It had some gnarly vibrations when I bought it, which turned out to be a combination of bad rear u-joints and a rear driveline that was too short.The front driveline vibrates with I engage 4WD or run in 2WD with the hubs locked, so I only leave the hubs locked as needed. Now that snow season is over, I should work on getting the front driveline addressed.THis is what it looked like when I bought it.I started repainting it rattle can style last fall.

Cool truck! Thanks for sharing it! I'm sort of looking for a 70's Ford F250/F350 just to keep around the house. I think the 70's Fords are some of the best looking Ford trucks. When I bought it, the tires were OK for tread, but were 10+ years old and full of dry rot/weather checking on the side walls.I did a lot of looking on Craiglist and finally found a set of tires. It took a long time to find some since it's an odd size: LT 235 85R16, also referred to as "pizza cutter" tires wince they are so skinny. What I found was a set of Goodyear Wrangler Duratracs with only about 4000 miles on them. They've really worked out well for snow driving over the passes, while towing!

I had a older Ford P/Up 1/2 ton, stepside with a 6cy gutless eng in the early 60s. I changed the 6 cy out to a 390 Cleveland, put in a 411 rear end, 4 barrel carb etc etc. I could burn rubber towing my 16 ft Aristocrat TT. I would tow that TT at 70, 80 miles an hour. Man, I was young and dumb but it was fun !!

When I bought the truck, it was only intended to be a rig for making dump runs, firewood hauler and the like. Once the weather started to turn bad, I started driving it more to prevent wear and tear to my Jeep and other truck from the salt/deicer/sand all over the roads..... then I have just kept driving it. My friends call me nuts for driving back and forth across the pass with it.It has dual tank, but the driver side tank is "no good" (see the paint on it)it leaks. It leaked when the guy I bought it from bought it 8 years ago.

I sure like the style of those old Chevys. I had an 82 Silverado with the 6.2l diesel, unlike most I loved that thing, it was a very reliable truck.

Yea, I was being a little facetious. Although it was great hanging wet towels and bathing suits all over the wooden sides... and the leaf rakes did add to the ambiance.

I chuckle with all the threads about fuel mileage... That truck averages 7.5 mpg - no matter if empty, full, highway, local roads, towing or not.

Thanks! It's a 351 Windsor... er... make that a 5.8 liter. With a 4 barrel carburetor, C6 automatic, and 4 wheel drive.
