Little Colorado River Trip?? April 21-23

Trying to kill time before heading to Alaska in a couple weeks. Wife and kid are leaving AZ early to head to our home in Utah. Thinking about a Little Colorado River camping/hiking trip in the dates posted above.

Short trip, but hoping to bust out of Phoenix area early on the 21st, drive up there, camp. Hike to the river on the 22nd. Drive home on the 23rd.

I think the roads in are mellow, and I'm getting the necessary Navajo lands permit.
  • ^^^Thanks.

I plan on riding up there on my bike. Want to hike to the LCR one day, and ride my bike along the rim the next.
  • If you go a little farther north to IR 6110, and make your way east, then south, on many un-numbered 'local unimproved roads', you can wind up about 3000 feet above the confluence of the LCR and the Colorado.

That's also the picture in my signature.
I might be able to give you a few co-ordinates -- but one really has to be there to see which 'roads' are passable.
(I've been adding your recent TRs to my places to visit)
  • Drive north of Cameron to Indian Route 6133, then head east for about 20 miles to the head of Salt Trail Canyon.
