Looking for a particular layout...

Can anyone recommend a travel trailer that has bunks, an outdoor kitchen, a bedroom that can be closed off and a slide in the kitchen with a couch that's across from the dinette. Needs to be 32' or less and under $20k. Weight is not a concern.
  • Why do you or anyone else like having the couch and dinette on opposite walls? I am trying to picture that in my head and I can't see the benefit. My trailer has the kitchen along one side and the u-shaped dinette and couch on the other. I would think if you needed to open the couch for sleeping and use the dinette for sleeping, the people would be on top of each other. Is it just for when you are having conversations? I could see that being better than my setup - being across from each other instead of in a line along the wall.

I, too, have a Rockwood 2604 and do a lot of outside cooking. I thought an OK would've been cool to have until a buddy of mine showed up at our canoe camp with one. After he leveled his TT, the stove was about 12-18 inches below his chin.
To OP, that's a lot of trailer for a 32 footer. Nice hunting!
  • I like the Apex very much. We had opposing sofa and dinette in our HTT and really preferred it over the next-to arrangement we have in our TT. It just seemed much more conducive to conversation. With our current Rockwood 2604 we do have the 2 swivel rockers by the sofa so there is a good conversation area, then the dinette forward and more across from the kitchen, so it works.

Personal opinion on the OK is that they're really, really popular now, being a relatively new option. But wondering down the line a couple of years if the same will be true and how much will folks actually use them. Our Rockwood has the optional outside grill, which we love and use every trip. But to prepare food, I don't see myself getting it out of the cabinets or frig, gathering it into something to carry outside or making multiple trips and then cooking it outdoors. By the time I do that, I could have it fixed and in the micro or oven. Just my .02. And we feel like the space the OK takes would be better used indoors...another .02. Good luck and happy camping!
  • That's mine minus the OK. How much of the OK do you want? The Rockwood 2702SS has an optional outside grill. KZ Sportsmen 302 is close but not opposing dinette and sofa.
  • That's close but not exact. I want the couch across from the dinette not next to it and only a slide in the kitchen. After posting this I found an Apex 298BHS with the exact layout but no others so I'm still open to suggestions.
    This is the Coachmen...

  • I think you would have to look at used. I have a 2014 Jayco Jay Flight 32BHDS that is exactly the setup you are looking for. I had the chance to buy a 2012 Jayco Jay Flight 32BHS which is the same setup for $19000 and had to pass because I hadn't sold my class C - that was earlier this year. I would say those deals can be found, but are far and few between. There are other models out there, but your price will be the limiting factor in finding that exact setup. If you didn't want the outdoor kitchen, that setup could easily be found.
