OP here,
Thanks for all the feedback. If I'm looking at the truck with 25k miles. What would be normal for engine hours ?
My current truck has 21k miles and under 500 hours. That averages over 42 mph. You will need to attempt to determine if that average implies much idling. If these trucks get driven long distances at 60 mph, and idle half the time, they would average 30 mph. If they get driven where they never go long distances, the average would be lower.
When I sold my HD last year, my average speed was over 42. The buyer was excited, because he believed that the mileage was mainly highway/rural driving.
We own a highway tractor that had 800,000 miles put on it over the course of only 3 years. It was used for long distance hauling and it obviously spent much of those 3 years running down the highway. It still averaged only 40 mph. My guess is that most pick up trucks will average less than 30 mph.
