Michelin Tire Question

Does anyone have the Michelin LT 235 80 R17 Energy Saver Tires on
their tow vehicle?? Would like to know if you are happy with the performance of these tires?? And how is the ride and handling of these tires? They will be installed on a Ram 3500 Dually. Any help would be appreciated.

I believe that the LTX-MS2 now has only a 50000 mile warranty now, not 70000 that they had. Doesn't matter to me as mine won't get to 40000 with all the spider webs in the sidewalls. Worst cost per mile tire I ever bought. The Cooper's people mention here sound much better and are recommended by my tire guy.
  • Check and see what the tread wear warranty is between the LTX MS2 and the new tire.
  • I put them on my last truck, in a larger size, then sold the truck 2 weeks later. They drove exactly like the previous LTX M/S2 that I had on the truck, but didn't have them long enough to develop more of an opinion. I plan to put them on my current truck when the current set of LTX A/T wears out. They don't seem to be lasting nearly as long as the previous sets of LTX M/S did.
  • The Michelin "Energy Saver LTX" seems to be a new tire, but from the pictures I've seen, the tread looks identical to the LTX MS/2.

Maybe they're just renaming the LTX MS/2 ??
  • If you mean the LTX-MS2 with the label "X green", I have those in that size on my 06 dually. I have almost 46,000 miles and still showing about half the original tread depth.

My only minor complaint is the soft sidewall. When loaded with my camper is makes the steering feel a little "squishy" and requires more steering input to effect a turn. Other than that they have been fine.

When these wear out I am going to use Cooper Discovery AT3s which I have used before and really liked.

Check inventory. I was told Michelin is coming out with a tire to replace the MS2 this month.
  • Looks a lot like the Michelin LTX MS/2.
Excellent, long lasting highway tire from my experience.
But not good in wet grass or mud.
  • Haven't had experience with that particular tire but I have always been more than happy with Michelin tires. They're always smooth and quiet.
