Sorry, you too late. I done sold it to someone I work with. It was the 3rd new truck I've had under this 1996 Lance TC. 2006 F350 XLT 4wd DRW SC PSD 6-spd 70,000 miles. Dealer offered $13k and I sold it for $15k. It comes with some spare oil, filters, factory service manuals, bed mat and some other goodies. Had that truck 12 years and it was never in the shop and still runs perfect. That was our first drw and man what a difference. New F350 should be here in May.

Looking at ordering a new Lance 1062 next Fall.

As for buying new vehicles, I can understand why someone would not want to take the first year depreciation of a new vehicle. But we have always bought new. Even when we were young and poor. The first new vehicle we bought was a 1972 Honda Civic. It cost $2,200. I could buy 27 of them for what this new Ford DRW is going to cost me.

But, we always know exactly what we want and we always keep the vehicle a long time and/or a lot of miles. My daily driver is a 2006 Camry with 245,000 miles on it. We sold a 2003 Corvette a couple of years ago that we bought new. The car before it was a Miata we bought new and kept for 13 years.

That's cool that you were able to change your brakes at the campsite. Do you carry socket wrenches and mechanic tools with you when you travel? It was towing so maybe you had enough room in the trailer to not worry about weight. I had to filter out the tools I really feel I need. Or really want to need (a 120v stick welder somehow made the cut).

This was a jeepin' trip to Colorado. 4 or 5 of us hauled our Jeeps out the to the Buena Vista area for 10 days of trail riding in the mountains. We haul all the tools and spares we can, so I had lots of tools, floor jacks, jack stands, etc. On none jeep trips, I usually just carry one tool bag full of tools. I wish I could find a 115v DC stick welder that I could run off of my EU2000i Honda generator, but I think the generator is just too small. I have been looking into 24v stick welding, but it takes two car batteries to do it right. Yeh, I have a steel job site box on the front of my trailer, so I can get lots of tools and spares in there.

I'm trying to sell my '97 F350 powerstroke. Its a crew cab long bed which isn't great for truck campers longer than 8'. Single rear wheel. 3.73 gears mean better fuel economy. I can really see the difference in engine speed between it and my "new" '96 F350 DRW 5spd at the higher road speeds. I wish I had a friend to unload it on to but all my friends don't know what a treasure it is in its condition. :h

I don't get buying new trucks but that's probably because I try not to buy things that I can't work on myself. I can swap a fuel injector in the 7.3l in less than 2 hrs. Also I can't fork over 60k for a newer truck. Got my debts down and I'd like to keep it that way!

We took our 1999 Lance 1130 out with the '97 SRW and we were 1750lb over on the back axle. Mind you these older trucks had a SRW GVWR of 9200lb. Had to get the dually just for the tire safety factor.

Good thing they were discs and not the rear drums. After doing drums a few times (with screw drivers and pliers :p) I can say for sure I wouldn't be a happy camper doing it at a campsite.

Wait, are you sure that is really "Crimson". Looks a bit red in the picture. Well, at least it isn't orange.

Was probably an easy decision at that price. Man 6.0s take a hit on value, but cherry low mile, 6 speed dually? I'd even buy it and at that price there's plenty of money left over to bulletproof it.
Someone got a sweet truck.

Yep, got to be good to those 6.0s if you want them to last. ๐Ÿ™‚

The only real problem I've ever had was I smoked two front brake calipers coming off one of those big Colorado mtn passes a few years back at 18,000 lbs total weight. Nursed it on into Chalk Creek CG and got the Salida Ford Dealer to order me two new front calipers and pads. Replaced them at the camp site and was good to go. ๐Ÿ™‚

That's a good deal for your coworker, truck will last forever as long as he knows how to maintain and monitor it.

It's better than that. He is in Puerto Rico working to get their power grid back up and has only seen photos of the truck.

The appraiser at the dealership said he would not take a penny less than $16k for it. Low miles, original owner, 4X4, PSD, no problems, never wrecked and a manual tranny. And the most important thing in Alabama, its crimson.

I sold the first two trucks to work buddies also.

Congrats for getting it gone. I bet you can't wait for the new one. What are you going to do for a truck in the meantime or are you putting it on a trailer and hauling it behind your Jeep? Yes, I'm joking.
