New 8k BTU Coleman Polar Cub

If it's quiet inside the TC and it is cool, then I would not care about the ouside noise.

Its nice and quiet and cool I love it. I am concerned what the guy camping next to me will say. I once had a fellow camper complain about my heater fan cycling on and off all night. They asked the next morning why I ran my generator all night :0

When I had mine installed at Camping World and they fired it up, holy cow, I couldn't believe how loud it was! BUT, it was still in the shop and the metal roof was not to far above it so it bounced the sound back down.

But before that realization, I was about to tell them to take it off. That is was the loudest AC unit I had ever heard! So they called Coleman and they said the increased volume is caused by the fan pointing straight up as opposed to the squirrel fan that is in most others.

Upon pulling the unit out of their garage, it sounded much like yours did the the video, very acceptable and very quite inside.

I can live with that, and the fact you can run with the Honda 2000.

What's to prevent debris from entering that fan area on the top? Things like leaves, pine needles, nuts and stuff off trees? Is there screening on the inside of that fan vent?

Yea , the whole point is to be inside , in the cool , right
If someone is stuck outside listening to it in the heat , they might be in a bad mood anyway
That mach 8 cub is rated at 9200 btu`s just like all the other cubs
It has two fan motors
The outside condenser fan runs at one speed all the time , so the cooling ability is not reduced as was the older models , the inside fan only reduces the air flow, two speeds
So it is as cool on low as it is on high
Its nice and low looking
The top fan opening is way smaller than the old cub , and I never really had a problem with debris going is my old "d" series cub

Educated guess: His new Wolf Creek has the new model, his earlier Wolf Creek had the previous model.

I have the same unit. It is a bit noisy on the outside but like others have said its what's on the inside that counts.

I am in the market for a Polar Cub for my TC. Which would you purchase - the older model 9,200 BTU or the newer mach 8 Cub?

You would be hard pressed to find any of the older models for sale since Coleman discontinued making them and replaced them with the 9200 btu Mach 8 Cub.
