New Chevy / GMC 3500HD options

I just ordered a 2022 Chevy 3500HD SRW and have a few questions about options.

If you own a 2020 or 2021 3500HD do you have the standard power up down tailgate or the 6 way manual lift tailgate? Why did you pick what you did?

There is an option for a Heavy Duty Front Spring / Camper Package. Did you check this box? I will be pulling a 5th wheel.

We are also looking at ordering a 2022 and wondering what delivery date they are giving you. Our dealer is very vague about delivery date given there are many 2021 trucks still waiting to get their computer chips. My dealer thinks GM is going to want to push these out to market before getting excited about delivering 2022 trucks.

GM is producing and shipping 2022 HDs. If you are thinking of ordering, your dealer will need to have allocation so that they may place the order. If the dealer is vague, they may not have allocation to place your order, but would earn it in the future months. GM has focused on Full-Size SUVs and Trucks.

Ok, just got back from another dealer and you are correct. He says about 12 weeks to get a 2022 one. He also says there are no more 2021 HD new trucks to be had. So I don't know what that means when it comes to people saying trucks are waiting for chips.

When you select the diesel engine the front springs will automatically be selected to carry the extra weight of the engine. Heavier front springs would be for those using their truck for a camper or snow plow.

Ha, right!
Appears thatโ€™s not a concern for the OP though. Usually isnโ€™t if one is buying a $80k truck.
But based on the guy on here recently that was like $3500 into a new Ford tailgate and all that had was a camera and lock (and maybe the pull out boat ladder thingy), Iโ€™ll go 5 large as a starting point for either the power gate or the Swiss army version.

The standard tailgate is powered and you can push a button inside the cab to raise or lower it.

You mean standard on High Country or other high trim levels, correct?

I'm not sure on all because I was only interested in the High Country.

At the front wheels installing Rancho XL or other adjustable shocks will help to tune the suspension for any porpoising with the load on the rear axle. More load capacity at the front makes little sense as 85% or more of the weight of the 5th wheel will be supported by the rear wheels.

What can help with the ride is using a shock absorbing 5th wheel pin box like the ones from Trailair sold by etrailer and others. These will reduce road shock a great deal and also reduce chucking.
