New Chevy / GMC 3500HD options

I just ordered a 2022 Chevy 3500HD SRW and have a few questions about options.

If you own a 2020 or 2021 3500HD do you have the standard power up down tailgate or the 6 way manual lift tailgate? Why did you pick what you did?

There is an option for a Heavy Duty Front Spring / Camper Package. Did you check this box? I will be pulling a 5th wheel.

Does the 3500 sit higher than the 2500? I think that the 2500 and 3500 sit about the same but you should look at the specs to be sure. We are about ready to order one as well and don't know what to expect. Look at Chevy.com Do they just charge you full MSRP? Yes, I paid MSRP but some dealers may add a fee on top of that. I was going to ask for a discount but the process went so fast and then it was to late. Is there an option to get rid of the amber lights on top of the cab for the Denali or High Country? On a DRW no but on a SRW you would need to order them.

Tailgate.....being in construction as us grit, the two non standard basic tailgates sound like something I'd break and destroy rather quick.

Even the easy up/down spring assist on my 2016 only made it to about the 60k mile mark before it broke. And I didn't even work that truck very much. It was like 90% pavement princess commuter car, 10% working truck stuff.

You mean standard on High Country or other high trim levels, correct?

IF you get a DW ANY brand, it's wide enough that you are federally mandated in the US any how, for them to be installed. Remove them, your local LEO will lighten your wallet some.

I too would order heavier front springs. Then I have on last trucks had lumber, ladder racks on them. A 1000 lbs of sprinkler pipe, lumber etc on the rack sticking forward, nice to have the extra springs.

Tailgate.....being in construction as us grit, the two non standard basic tailgates sound like something I'd break and destroy rather quick. Especially since I drive up to 500 lb lawnmowers, etc into the bed on ramps. The cables are known to starch and break....gotta wonder how well if at all an electric or hydraulic tailgate will last. As saying goes, I would prefer NOT to be the perverbial guenia pig

Thanks Dadoffourgirls for the input. I ordered the standard tailgate. I still have time to change the order so I may add the heavy duty front springs.

I have driven three different 2020/2021 trucks. I have had three different tailgates. The power up and down would be what I will order on a LTZ. The multi-pro tailgate is useful in some scenarios. Of course, I had a standard bed (so Grit dog knows I only play with my toys) so flipping to prevent the 8ft lumber from sliding was extremely convenient with the multi-pro. I found it more convenient to have the power up tailgate overall.

I would put the heavy duty front springs on the vehicle. The vehicle I ordered and drove for 4 months did contain them.

Given the ability to, I would pick a manual tailgate. I can't imagine the "standard" tailgate is a power gate though?
If you are asking yourself "why would he say that?" then you don't really use a truck bed for work and go ahead and pick the fanciest power/swiss army knife gate you can.
Iโ€™ve heard they make for good conversation pieces when tailgating!
