New Flagstaff Classic Superlite

It finally arrived. We are the proud owners of a 2014 Flagstaff Classic Superlite 831RESS travel trailer. I picked it up Friday from RV Direct in Albany, New York. It sure was a cold and snowy day for mounting the weight distributing hitch brackets to the trailer. Naturally, the emergency brake controller was right where the bracket had to go. One of the dealer techs volunteered to move it for me.

I can’t say enough nice things about the people I worked with from rv direct. From sales to the walk-thru, they were great. I was more than a bit nervous about paying in full for the trailer before seeing it, but everything was as advertised. I tried to get as good a price from 2 other dealers in the area, but they both were $4500 higher than rv direct. That’s too much money to leave on the table. That buys a lot of fuel for my Chevy 2500 gas hog.

The unit was winterized, obviously in these temps, so I won’t be able to test the water system until spring. I didn’t see any pink leaking anywhere, so that’s a good sign. Pictures will come when it warms up a bit. I dragged it home to Connecticut just in time to get snowed in.
  • Thanks, Bill. Your Cougar is essentially the same floor plan as ours, and a real nice unit. We would love to be in Florida next month, but I have to show up at work on a regular basis or they stop sending me checks. We have been spending money like drunken sailors (no offense to sailors).
  • I sincerely hope you don't have to have any major repairs done to your Forest River as they are sadly lacking in the timely repair business. My 2013 TT spent from the 16th of July until the 10th of October getting the TT repaired at Tom Johnsons RV in Marion,NC due to NON SHIPMENT of a front cap that had multiple defects including the door that seemed to be mounted to a "flexy flyer" frame. Either it wouldn't close or open. JMHO

First off CONGRATS- Ah the feel of a new trailer.
I negotiated with 3 Michigan Keystone dealers and RV Direct when we bought our trailer last May. General RV in Wixom, Michigan beat every one of them. Plus I get a local dealer to deal with.
Glad to hear all went well for you.
ps... you always can go to Florida next month and break that new trailer in... :):C
    Happy trails,
  • Wife's brother lives up there - never camped up that way - so why not!!

Yours is a nice plan, but no one down here carries it.

We had a bunkhouse previously, but actually ended up with the GK very seldom - about 10%, so we decided to skip that in the future. Plus I can sleep in the recliner - already tested. :B

We liked the wide open living area. We've already got 90+ days booked for next year and will be out probably 200 or more.

That's a long drive from Texas to Glastonbury. We are planning to visit your neck of the woods in the next few years. I hope you have a good trip up here. The weather next June will have to be warmer than last.
We liked your floor plan also, but the Grand Daughter always brings a friend along so we wanted the larger couch. Enjoy your new home on wheels. I am so jealous that you are already using yours.

Suggest you purchase the second year warranty from Forest River. A very cheap investment for the price. There is a time limit in which you can purchase the warranty from the date of RV purchase. Search the Forest River owners forum. Enjoy the new trailer, spring isn't that far off. You can use the current down time to furnish the trailer, etc.

Same thing on the 832IKBS that I picked up on Nov 13.

We had five nights in the trailer so far - Texas is a bit warmer.

Our furnace sail switch got stuck the first time we turned it on - so no heat. But the dealer fixed that quickly when we got back.

Good luck. Maybe we will see you this summer. Planning to be up near Glastonbury about the middle of June.
