Original paint job, needs re-painted though.
Will be a fun truck for our 14 y/o....and ME! - Grit_dogNavigatorMostly stock GenV Vortech 7.4. Not a powerhouse, but it will boil the tires!
- Grit_dogNavigatorSince everyone is thoroughly enjoying this thread, I'll include a couple more pics since I finally learnt how to!
Thought about loading the Dodge up on the trailer and seeing how good the 454 pulled, but this truck will lead a more charmed life than that! - spud1957ExplorerVery nice! Luv it. How many miles on it?
Is that yours? - Now that's a good looking truck!
- ACZLExplorerI had the exact same thing (only GMC). Was a 1986 w/ 6.2L diesel, 4spd, 4x4, dual tanks like yours, quad front shocks. Of all the trucks I've owned since I 1st started driving, will have to say that this one was probly my fav. Just loved the color combo. In fact, I just saw yesterday a retro paint scheme on a fairly new Chevy and while some may not recognize it, it sure did look good.
- Yep.... that’s when Chevy designed good looking trucks. I had a 87 with a tbi 350.
- Grit_dogNavigatorThx for the compliments!
Just picked it up last weekend.
Always liked that body style, hated the anemic 70s performance and horrible 80s performance. Would have preferred a round light 70s model and if this truck wasn’t in such good shape I’d put a 70s front clip on it.
Our almost 14 year old is as excited as me. He’s been driving it around the subdivision every day!
It’ll be a not too expensive restoration. Body work is pretty much limited to scratches and dings.
Will drive it for the summer before tearing into it.
Tried the airbags last night. Truck is set up and hauled a TC at some point. Bags are blown.... dang it. - Grit_dogNavigator

Missed a 1/2 ton 87 TBI a couple weeks ago. Same condition with a really bad black paint job. TBI and OD would have been nice as our boys daily driver.
Oh well this truck is meaner! - BenKExplorerGreat looking truck...always will have a soft spot in my heart for that era GM truck
See you have dual side tanks ! Consider installing in-line fuel filters, as the tanks over time develop rust scale that will plug the OEM filter
I put in the biggest in-line filters just BEFORE the control valve that switches between tanks. Have pictures somewhere if you are interested
