New member with a couple of questions

Hello all. I just signed up on the forums and have a couple of quick questions. I've had three travel trailers and a fifth wheel over the years but ive been out of it for a while. My wife and I are looking to get back into camping and I've got my search narrowed down to a couple of units that I would like to get some feedback on. I've looked at a Wildwood 28DBUD that the dealer was willing to go down to 18,300 without the wd hitch. I also looked at a couple of Cherokee grey wolf units that were equipped close to the wildwood but were a couple of grand higher. I'm going tomorrow to look at a 2015 Salem Cruise Lite 262BH that the dealer has priced at 17,995 with a wd hitch included. He also straight up told me that he had several 2015 models and he needed them gone so he had a little more wiggle room. The grey wolf units seemed to be s little nicer looking than the wildwood but I liked them all. What are everyone's thoughts on the ones I'm considering? I've got a 2015 Ram 2500 Cummins so weight isn't really a concern. Is a weight distributing hitch even needed with these setups? I've got s Curt dual ball adjustable hitch already that is rated to 14000 pounds and 1400 tongue weight. Sorry for the long post. Maybe I had more than a couple of questions.
  • I will look into the hitch. I would be willing to go used but I'm a little afraid because you never know what people have done to them. I'm gonna look at some used units though just to see what's there
  • Just pulling, with your truck, you probably won't notice a difference......until you get passed by a big tractor trailer and it pulls the camper along with it. Yes, I would get a WD hitch with sway control, even with that stout of a truck.

If we were just getting back into the RV'ing world, I would go with a nice 3-4 year old used unit. Depreciation is awful on a new one and I would let somebody else take the hit and also get all the bugs worked out of a new one.
  • Just my opinion, I would certainly go with the WD hitch and sway control. My trailer weighs in at 7000 lbs. loaded and pulls much better with WD hitch and sway control. I have the hitch in my signature.
