- hornet28ExplorerOne of my brothers hauled RVs for 3 years. He told me he ran around 62-65 and mileage does make a difference to them as they pay for the fuel out of their pay
- bobndotExplorer II:S next time, I'm going back to a truck camper ...no tires. :)
- patchelectExplorerKind of reminds me of the guy selling his Corvette

Except when it was being delivered or was sitting on the dealers lot for 3 months! - Community AlumniAs others have said most are towed or put on a flatbed by private hauling companies. Some dealers will actually send their own trucks to pull their units back like my dealer does. He says it saves him a bit on transport costs that he doesn't have to pass on to the customer. Plus it gives them a chance to verify the configuration, before it leaves the factory's yard.

It sounds like many assume that all delivery drivers are busting their butts trying to get rich , I believe if ya check you will find that more than half are semi-retired couples who take a run when it suits them , or when the delivery is going someplace that they want to go .The dispatchers can not force ya to take a run , they might say please if they are short and need some delivery in a hurry . One or two runs a month is all a lot of us want .
Could very well be retired/semi-retired but STILL am getting passed by them routinely...fuel consumption or not. And fuel has been fairly low priced. - NanciLExplorer II

- wanderingbobExplorer IINot all drivers on deliveries speed. My wife and I never exceed 68 MPH and fuel consumption is much more important than getting there fast . we are limited in the hours that we drive in 24 hours by law and gaining 30 or 40 miles in a shift at the expense of burning a lot more fuel would be self defeating .

- TakamineExplorerWe live just outside of Elkhart and I see them being hauled all the time. Larger units are usually towed by a heavy duty dually, smaller ones are on flatbeds. I travel US 31 a lot and see a lot of units. Most of them are traveling at or just over the speed limit. Rarely see anything going way over. Maybe once they hit the interstate, they kick it up a lot. When we bought ours, it came from a plant 3 miles from home and about 15 miles from the dealer, so not a lot of miles on it. Also kept the price down.
