No power getting to my Angler 8C, 2001

Hope everyone is having a good year so far. The problem is that when it is plugged in to "my house" or the generator, it throws the GFI, in my house or generator. It does not trip any of the breakers inside or blow any of the fuses on the inside. I bought this used. My buddy who I bought it from who had it for about 10 years, was in a very bad car accident, needless to say he can't help me with it. I pulled the oven out to get a look at where the main power cord come in. I just bought all new breakers to put in. I don't know how old the ones that are in there are, but I thought I would start there. The thing that has me baffled is, it doesn't throw any of the breakers or fuses in the camper. It trips whatever I am plugged into, the house or generator. I appreciate any help on this. Gonna try to post pictures.

So to add from yesterday. The short was tied to the "Microwave" breaker. So he followed the wires come off the breaker and one was the weird wire configuration of the one for the water tank temperature thermostat. We disconnected it and zero issues. No GFI breakers or anything tripped, and we kept it plugged into shore power the rest of the day. I put it all back together today and no issues. Working on installing the new converter/charger. It will be situated in the fridge. More to follow on that. Again, I want to thank everyone for the help.

Ok,
Thanks everyone. Well my buddy showed and about an hour into it, we/he found that the thermostat for my water heater was bad. We fixed that and everything was back to normal. We are working to put in the new converter/charger. More to follow. Pictures will be posted..

Stircrazy,
Ya roger. My electrical buddy is coming up 6 May. Priority is to find out the issue is. If it ends up not being the converter/charger, this one that I got from Mike will be going in regardless. I will find a spot to make it fit!! Thanks again.

thats awesome, I have a couple WFCO's laying around but friends don't let friends run WFCO converters haha..

seriously thought that is a great converter, it won't fit into your old spot, but you can mount it behind it if there is room, beside it in the bottom of a cabinet or whatever and just rerun the wires.

I've changed several of the converters over the years. I would personally only change the converter at the bottom section. Would require only a few wire changes. But you can change the whole power center.

There are several good converters that are multistage charging which will protect the battery better. I like the Progressive Dynamics PD9100 with the charge wizard. It has maintained two 122Ah lead acid batteries for 12 years. Batteries are just a little weak now. But that fantastic for lead acid walmart batteries.

If you have a location it will fit somewhere, all required is to run a bit of wiring to get it back working.

Good luck.

I turn off all the breakers in the camper prior to turning on the shore power. The first time i plugged it into a non GFI, everything worked in the camper for about 30 seconds, then it tripped the breaker in my garage panel box. When i tried it again several times, the power in the camper went off right away.

Stircrazy,
Ok you wrote, "ya that might work, won't have any 12V power aside from what the battery will do itself so keep in mind depending how your battery is you 12V may or may not work of sort of work.". My 12V is practically brand new. So? see if it all works after I disconnect the converter/charger breaker, and don't use shore power to test it? Sorry for the dumb question, I don't know anything about this, but you guys are good mentors..
Bruce

once you turn off your converter breaker all you will have is what your battery will supply on its own and your 120v shore power, so I was just more or less letting you know to watch your battery isn't in a low state and if it is either charge it or don't use 12V power much while you're playing with the 120V. You're going to have to use 120 to test it otherwise how will you know if that's your problem?

When you have been trying to find the issue, does your shore power trip as soon as you turn it on? If so, I would turn the converter breaker off before you turn the show power on.

Oh wow! Thank you. I have a 4 day weekend this weekend. I plan on doing all that you all recommended. Thanks you.
