I just did this project, first, the original fan sounded horrible and loud. I took it apart and I could not see that the blades were rubbing or hitting any thing, no marks on the blades at all, just noisy. Shot it with WD it did nothing to quiet the fan. I took an old computer fan (muffin fan) cut the little blue temp control off. It runs pretty fast and is much much quieter than the old one, (hardly know its running) I made some brackets and covered any open spaces with aluminum tape and hooked up the wires. Turn the switch on the fan and it does fine. I would say it moves about the equal amount of air, judging by how much the door flap opens.
The vent flap was flapping because the little plastic keepers were broken off, I replaced the exterior of the vent with a new one, $12.99 from our local RV store, easy job, now its brand new white and the flap can be secured. The last thing will be to replace the 912 light bulb with a led one and I'll call it good.
