Northern Lite campers No Black Tank Clean out

clean out system where the Bigfoot does.
Keith at NL tells me that it is not necessary if you use the proper chemicals.

A black clean out system is always needed!!!!! Does Keith RV, he sounds like a Sales man not an experienced RVer:):):) The only alternative solution is a dump 5 gallons of water into the toilet every time you empty your black tank. Kind of a pain in the A_ _:)

If the toilet on the NL 10-2 is like the NL 8-11, the toilet sits directly over the black tank. This gives you direct access to the entire inside of the black tank with a cleaning, pressure "wand" or rinser (we prefer the wands with one very focused, strong stream of water vs. several--better cleaning). IMO, these wands will clean out the black tank much more effectively than an OEM black tank flush. We used to use the OEM black tank flush on our TT's while we were on the road. Once we got home and did a thorough flush with a wand we realized just how ineffective the OEM black tank flush was. Depending on the length of our trip we may use the wand on the road occasionally, or wait until we get home. YMMV.

Use plenty of water when flushing #2
Add couple toilet full bowl flushes back into black tank after dumping
Chemicals are not needed either. Waste tanks are holding tanks not septic systems. Water...

My TC didn’t have a black tank clean out. Everything was fine. My current TT has one. Rarely use it...every six months. I DO dump my black tank only when at least 75% full. If dumping and it isn’t at 75%, I add water.

and shop around for the best OUT THE DOOR PRICE. shopping can save big bucks. and a water hose with a wand is all you need. sales people are not your friend they want a pay check and most will lie,,lie,,lie. to get it.

If you want to flush your tank extra, you can make your own or buy a wand to go into the toilet. If your concern is the gauges, buy the type that work no matter if the tank is dirty or not.

I wouldn’t call it over rated, but I would say that I wouldn’t use that “feature” to pick a TC.

Only recently have the RV manoufacturers offered a tank flush connection OEM, Prior to about 2010 or so if you wanted such a device you installed it yourself. The only thing I have found them good for is slowing the line down at dump stations.

We use our Black tank flush system every time we dump. Saves running in and out of the coach with a hose.

Open the black valve, allow to drain, open the grey tank valve allow to drain.

start the flush, when it runs clear, close the black tank valve, allow to fill about 2 minutes. open the black tank valve, repeat as required to get a clear dump.

stop the flush, close both valves. unhook the dump hose. rinse as required.

^ I always dump the grey tank after finishing everything to do with the black tank. The soapy water of the grey tank flushes the residual nasties from the stinky slinky and leaves me to do just a quickie slinky rise.

At home I use the wand to clean out the black tank
