Miscellaneous items and regular maintenance.

Doesn't use a drop of oil between oil changes
and that's carrying the 4000 lb camper fulltime.

It sure has been and still is a great truck.

Totally agree. I had an 84 Chevy, 4X4, 3500 SRW with a 6.2L diesel. I put 250K on that pickup. Some years ago I contemplated buying one again, and put in a Duramax and Ali transmission. You know one of those projects that you put way more into than you could ever hope to get out of it. The Chevy dealer called me one day and said they just got an 85 3500 SRW gas truck in. The truck was in great shape, fully loaded Silverado. I test drove it 30 miles and brought it back. That cured my itch, it reminded me of driving a grain truck. So yeah, thankfully they don't build em like they used to.

Yes, she looks good! Like others have said, the GM 6.0L is not the most powerful gasser out there, but it is solid as an anvil. I have been watching for one in a CC SB 4x4, but they are hard to find not beat to cr@p and with a million miles on them.

It's now up to 260K miles, still on the original brake pads, still only uses 1qt of oil between changes, 7500 miles or so, a few maintenance repairs, but that's about it. Vehicles have gone a long way since the 60's when one was lucky to hit 100K before it was off to the junkyard.

I never was a big Chevy fan either until I started driving this one.

It had that 8.1L gasser, 1-ton dually regular cab.

It had a CGVWR of 22,000 lbs. The truck, trailer and snowcat weighed 27,000 lbs.

At least 75% of the miles on that truck were towing that snowcat and we never added oil between oil changes. It worked its guts out towing that cat.

We had a Ford, Dodge and this Chevy and this one was the most comfortable for me to sit in a drive.

That truck is what made me look at buying a Chevy instead of the others.

And I'm glad I did.

I am not a fan of GM at all, but I was always miffed when people talked down on the 6.0 gas engine. Its not the most modern, the most powerful or the most fuel efficient... but it is a steady and dependable engine. My FIL has one in his work truck with well over 100,000 miles.

No salt and lots and lots of Interstate driving, I'd imagine. Just big loops down I-10, up I-5, across I-90, and back down I-75.

The majority of those miles are with an empty truck and on the highway.

Impressive but they are due.
