Pet's travel with you in a Truck camper

Park in the shade if possible and open windows for cross ventilation and run the fan. They are better off in the camper than in the vehicle. We let our dog in our camper while at home so she feels natural for her to be there, no anxciety.

I keep my guys in the camper when stopped. windows open, curtains down, fantastic fan running, large full dish of water, and lots of chew toys for my Australian Shepherds to gnaw on

During the "hot" season, we minimized our time when the furballs were left alone in the camper, unless we were camping with some other people who could take action if needed (i.e. power loss so the a/c would stop, etc). When in doubt, one of us would go to the store, the other stay w/ the furcampers.

I had been looking around for a product that could alert me in the event that temperatures got to high in the camper. I had not found any....yet.

In the summer when it's unbearably hot outside we'll run the air conditioner for our little Shih Tzu and put her up on the bed of the cab-over surrounded by her toys and a dish of water. Usually we'll leave the TV on for her so that she wont feel like she's left alone. If it's not so terribly hot outside opening up the windows for cross ventilation and running the fantastic fan is sufficient enough. We usually take her along with us when we're hiking the trails and sight-seeing but there are some places like restaurants and stores that don't allow pets so we need to keep her in the camper.

First of all do you mean they are IN the trailer when you are driving down the road? There are PLENTY of threads about just how many Rv'ers do NOT do this.

Second, just an FYI if you are talking about when you are parked in a CG. Call around you will find out 'many' CG's have a rule that no pets are allowed left in the RV unattended.

Its another plus for the on board propane generators. If its too hot we run the Onan genny and the dog stays cooler than us. Doing this is much harder if you are using a portable genny outside the TC. If its not too hot we run the Fantastic fan like others suggested. Always plenty of water on board. We are never gone that long and we never plan to be away from the RV for lengthy periods, especially if its real hot. Traveling with a pet or pets can effect how you travel and what you do while traveling.

I just run the generator and the A/C for them. I wouldn't want my bulldog to get too hot.

My dog does not have a credit card so I bring my dog with me and leave my DW in the camper with the fantastic fan on. So far, everyone has been understanding.

I see not problem with this :-)

For me it depends on the heat, around here 30C is hot and if I close the drapes and open the top vents the TCer stays around 22 - 24C. The dog has her water, food, toys and lots of places to lay. She will stay in the TCer all day if she could as she loves it. If I am some place like a zoo where we will be for a while I will come out a couple times to let he out and to check on the temps. Never have been worried about her as it is always cool inside, probably cooler than many homes are.
