Was wondering since they been out of production for almost 10 years. Still see them regularly in my neck of the woods.

We just traded into a new WhiteHawk 30' with dual slides and our '04 Excursion with the 6.0 tows it very well.

The truck has been great!

I have a 2000 Excursion with a 7.3 and tow a 24' car trailer and a 27' TT and it's a towing beast. I've got 177,000 miles on it and have no plans to replace it anytime soon. Love the vehicle and it's great to have the extra seats from time to time.

Just bought a 2005 6.0L with 41K on it to haul our family of six and a 37 Coachmen Freedom Express 312, which we have yet to buy.

I'm lovin' it so far minus the noise!

Thanks for the responses. Good to hear so many are happy with theirs. We really like ours. Use it for towing a livestock trailer, flatbed trailer and a car hauler.

Great as a family hauler with the camper, and each of my kids can bring a friend.

On my 2nd one. The first was a 00 V10 that needed just scheduled maintenance and I put 10K towing miles on it from IL to FL a few times and shorter trips. I pulled my TT (in sig), boat and auto transport trailers with it. The rear suspension is soft but I just compensated with the loading of the trailer or the WD hitch.

My 2nd one was bought running but wore out and I had to put in a lot of neglected scheduled maintenance and replace sensors/components coupled with a few upgrades. I have only towed a few times my TT and a 10K loaded tilt equipment trailer but it tows even more effortless. It has more quirks being a 6.0L but the power and efficiency are tough to beat. I'm looking to upgrade suspension on this one.

I have had mine since July of 02. 12 years old with 112,000 miles. Other than replacing the hub bearings a couple of years ago it has been a great tow vehicle. Looking to put an aftermarket sway bar in the rear which I should have done a while ago.

The Excursion does make a great tow vehicle, however it's factory GVWR rating was really low, compared to it's curb weight. It really needed a 10,000 or 10,500 GVWR, even a little higher with the diesel engine.

IT was in 2005 that Ford upgraded it's F-250 to 10,000 GVWR, and the SRW F-350 to around 11,500 GVWR, what the Excursion needed too!

The gas version has a lower curb weight, and thus should be able to tow a higher weight trailer without exceeding the GVWR by to much.

Money can't buy happiness but somehow it's more comfortable to cry in a

Porsche or Country Coach!

If there's a WILL, I want to be in it!

I tow a 20-foot 3,500 lbs travel trailer with an 2000 Excursion 98k miles, V-10, with 4.30 gears.

First tried towing the trailer with a 4.7 Dakota but couldn't hold any more that 55 without it struggling. DW keep telling me "pull over and let them past". No more!

02 V-10 with 4.30`s here. hauls my 32 foot (35 foot total) 9200lb loaded TT with no issues. mine has 84k on it right now. just got back from a trip to Myrtle Beach. I averaged 8 mpg. not bad considering I went through the mountains of WV (turnpike), and VA and NC. I love the X. they need some suspension work to make them haul heavy! We did 14 hours from the Chicago burbs to Mt Airy NC. I was tired from driving at the end, not due to the X though!

Great SUV`s there had to be around 10 of them at the campground!

2005 Eddie Bauer with a 6.0 powerstroke here. Bought it to haul our 4 kids and 36' long TT. I bought it with 72k and have put around 10k on it. It is great to be able to pull a trailer almost 400 miles and still have half a tank of fuel.

Mines only got 87k. I just did the dreaded exhaust manifold stud replacement. It was a PITA. Other then that brakes, tires and a brake caliper. Does well on the beach sand despite its weight.

2004 V10. When we are on the road the whole thing weighs between 16,000 and 17,000 lb. The trailer is 33' long and I use a cheap WD hitch. Nothing has been done to it but brakes, alternator, brakes, tires, brakes and plugs. It made it to 170,000 last week. We took it coast to coast at 140,000 and I would do it again now. The wife and I have bucket seats and the dog has two rows of leather and his own AC it's a keeper.

Not me but a buddy has a diesel Excursion that he tows with. 3" lift, airbags, exhaust brake...

I... LOVE that truck.
