Power tongue jack questions

I'm looking at power tongue jacks. Problem is I don't have a lot of room as I need to be able to open the tailgate and the propane tanks are close. I'm looking at the Barker and Atwood 3500's but can't find any dimensions on the head unit.

Can you rotate the head unit when you install it?

Anyone have any photos or dimensions they can share?

It looks like the head unit on the Atwood is a little smaller in the photos I can find?
  • Thanks!

Our propane tanks are the taller than many (I think 7 gallons) so the taller unit is probably a good idea, gets it more out of the way of the tailgate too.

    So probably the atwood.
  • I have the new Atwood Robofoot 4K jack, and have plenty of room for the tailgate. I have the deep drop Reese shank (trunnion head), can't remember the exact model at the moment.

You will wonder why you waited so long if you buy one!

The side motor units like the Barker, Ultrafab etc. often have tailgate clearance issues. They can be rotated, but the light won't shine on the hitch then. Also check the manual crank operation for clearance problems. On many, the propane tanks are in the way. Neither of these issues apply to a top motor jack, ie: Atwood.
  • Thanks. Rotated 360 degrees, or just to the three different clockings using the mount bolts?
  • You can rotate the head on the barker. I had to rotate mine so I could lower my tailgate when hooked up.
    Happy trails
