Wow, $47K for an XLT gas. Glad I bought my "forever" truck when I did. I bought a CC F250 6.2 XLT new in 2013 for $38k, then traded it in for my 2015 XLT diesel at $48K. Prices sure have jumped.
OP, I'd try to get them lower. Walk if you have to. Lots of other dealers, and you need to remind them of that. Having said that though, if you have the money, and are happy, they're great trucks.
Re: V10 vs the V8 6.2. The 6.2 with the new trans will do the job. It will however, do it at much higher RPM. I pulled my 7500 lb 28 footer with the 6.2/ 3:73 and it hummed up the hills at 4500 RPM just fine. It's what they designed it for. Good luck.
