Ford F250 & a Keystone Montana?

I just purchased a Keystone Montana and will be purchasing a new truck in the near future. In the meantime it will be on my lot at the lake. My question is can my Ford F250 (gas) with a 3.73 pull this fifth wheel short distances? Not planning on using it to go cross country but perhaps to dealer etc...within a couple hours. I know it’s not ideal, and simply want to know if it will be able to pull it until I make a purchase on a bigger truck?

    If loaded that trailer is in duallie territory. Empty, a 350/3500 can handle it. Chris

    Not really sure if the 250 can safely pull it. It depends on the condition of the truck, distance, and terrain that you will be towing. I'd be a bit concerned, to say the least. As far as the new truck, go with a Diesel, F-350 or equivalent. Dually optional, If your like me and a lot of others you will want a new 5'er in time. lol. Good Luck and Happy Camping !!

    What year is the truck. What is the rear GAWR and what tires are on the truck? What does the rear axle weigh now empty. Add 150-200 for hitch and subtract that from RGAWR, and assure tires are able to handle the load. It will be a t u r d on the road if you have hills.

    Nothing wrong with the gas engine but you should think about 4.30 gears instead of 3.73s.
    The F250 could do it but you will be adding stuff to beef up the ride depending on what packages are on the truck.
    Look at the F350 in srw if the srw is a must. Once again depending on the packages ordered with the truck you still might want something to help with possible rear end sag.
    A F350 dually gas with 4.30 gears has you covered all the way around.;)

    Folks, The OP asked about using his existing truck to pull that trailer. Lets try to offer advice based on the question asked.

    In my opinion, he would have no problems pulling his trailer a short distance using his existing truck as long as he drove carefully and didn't try to extend the distance travelled. A new one would do the job much better but he said that is in the near future.
