But, to answer your question, back when my camping was under the cap on the back of a Toyota Tundra, I got hot showers by using a Zodi water heater/shower. Do not let the system run dry or you will melt hoses. But if you want a nice hot shower wherever you are...
A fisherman's footnote: It also has the benefit of being able to sterilize wading gear when traveling from one body of water to another. Simply put boots and wader legs into a 5 gal bucket, fill with water, put the input and output of the Zodi in the bucket and fire it up until the water gets to 140*F. After around 20 minutes at 140* you've killed everything from zebra mussels to didymo.
