Progressive PT30x or SSP-30XL

Based on reading, it seems I need to add some kind of protection to our system for when we have the opportunity to plug in.

I am willing to spend money when it makes sense. I also try to maintain a good cost/benefit ratio.

I know the PT30x is well regarded. Trying to determine if the PT30x is worth the $200 premium over the SSP-30XL.

I personally bought the EMS over the surge protector

We have had the SSP-30XL for 3 years now. Very happy with it until it failed this spring. I got the green surge light fine, but not the blue "OK" light with it. Only the green. The pole was (double)tested and was fine.
Progressive is sending me a new one, no charge without question & I can see that it has been UPS shipped, but hasn't arrived yet. It is coming from U.S.A. to me in Canada so I don't know yet if there will be import or duty fees to be paid but I believe Progressive is covering the shipping.
With these units there can be connection issues occasionally if the power source is too close to the ground. They can be bulky.
