- richk88Exploreron my sunline the slide floor bowed from stepping on it in the retracted position,it's a 13ft. wide slide with basically no support holding the floor except the partition between the dinette and sofa,I reinforced the floor to the partition and now keep wedge supports under the slide floor when retracted, now you can step on it all you want and it don't move.just gotta remember to remove the wedges from under the slide before extending it out.I would think this is why dealers are telling some people not to use the slide when retracted.
- bfast54ExplorerIf you can not sit,lay,etc.....on your slide with it in, then I really suspect cheap flimsly construction.
It sits above your floor,on rollers,slides.. you dont want to have a party with them in.......but,I have stopped for years, while traveling, and eat, on the in slide.
If it were really an issue....furniture,etc...........would have to be taken off, when slides are in......think about the bouncing....etc while going down the road..... - DtaylorExplorer

I always start with the slide side a tad high. When the slide opens it will then be level.
This is what I do as well. Once the slide is open and everything has settled, the TT will be level - BheffingtonExplorerI wonder if this means I can't haul my kids in the trailer as I drive in peace and quiet down the road?
- BheffingtonExplorerHow many trailers at the dealership do you think are perfectly level? I'm willing to bet most of them arent, yet all the slides are out. Hmmmm! 99% of them don't even have the stabilizers down, yet many multiples of people walk through them daily.
- nickthehunterNomad IIWe have turtled more times than i can even count and slept on the sofa on the slide. I would suspect that not using the slide with it in the "in" position may be true for some manufacturer's but not all. I have been under mine, there is certainly nothing in the slide mechanism that would make mine less structural with it in; if anything, it's less structural with it out. I would suggest check your Owner's manual.
- Doug33ExplorerThe dealer's tech who did our PDI said he's had many customers come in with slide problems because they used the slide with it in the retracted position, and bent the slide mechanism/track.
- Farm_CampExplorerOn Friday last week when doing our PDI the dealership told us that we should not walk on the slide floor while retracted... I'll have to try and research that some more myself.
- dadmomhExplorerAgree, level first. Then slide out.
Never heard this thing about sitting on the furniture with the slide in until just a few days ago on this forum. Don't understand the thinking on it. I'd be inclined to call your manufacturer for an opinion....would love to know their response. - mowinExplorerMy dealer told us not to sit on furniture with slides in. It may differ from one manufacture to another.
