Recommended web sites to sell RV

CL -- I've successfully sold several RV's and numerous vehicles on CL. And almost always very quickly! I have sold 3 RV's on there, each one sold within 1 or 2 days!

Yes of course there are scammers about, but I put the terms of sale and payment in the ad, and when I get any emails offering otherwise, I just delete them and don't bother to respond. Easy peasey.

I sold a trailer on CL in one day and could have sold half a dozen more.

We've sold lots of stuff on Craigslist, including a pop-up, a hybrid TT and a SUV. When we sold the pop-up, craigslist was young and not yet full of spammers. That listing was online for about a week. We did get 1 scammer wanting to send us a certified check for more than our asking price and they'd send someone to pick it up. That was a scam.

We had the HTT listed a couple times. The first time, we got a handful of scammers. Even got one guy who setup an appointment to come see it, but never showed up. Some folks wanted more photos (I put together a web page on my web site with about 20 photos and a very detailed description). The second time we listed it, the ad wasn't online long enough to attract the spammers, it sold within a few hours. We had it listed for less than it was worth (although it had some issues) and we got our asking price.

The SUV sold within a couple days. Again, I posted a lot of photos and a very detailed description of the SUV including a list of issues it had. I did not get any scammers with the SUV as I don't think it was online long enough to attract them.

If someone is offering to buy it site unseen for more than it is worth, it is most likely a scam. Everything we listed on Craigslist was cash only sale. Several times potential buyers wanted to send us a cashier's/certified check, that's most likely a scam. I had one buyer text me about 5 times wanted to send me a cashier's check. I told him every time, cash only. Finally he gave up.

If the ad is online for more than a couple days, expect calls/emails from Dealers and even the local Newspaper. If the offer sounds too good to be true, it most likely is.

Our HTT was stored at a storage lot with cameras. When I showed it, I pulled the HTT in full view of one of the cameras. When we sold the SUV, our neighbor was a county police officer, so I just made sure he was home when the potential buyer came to look at it. With both sales, the first viewer was also the buyer.

Not saying don't do Craigslist, RV Trader, etc, you will eventually sell your rig with them, just be ready for the BS. Dealers scour both sources daily

I have recent experience selling my TT on Craigslist. I did get offers 3 - 6k under my asking price. Most likely dealers. I searched different sources to see what similar models to mine were selling for, then I priced mine based on that research and the condition mine was in. I also gave it a thorough cleaning and wax job. I cleaned the roof and had the seams re-caulked - noted this in my ad along with a picture of the roof. It helped that I was able to demonstrate all systems since it was in my driveway, plugged in to 30 amps. So yes, you will get idiots that you'll see a mile away - better to put up with that than to take a bath on it trading it in. My dealer quoted 4k on trade in - I was selling for 10k.

Sold it in less than 24 hours at my asking price - no dickering from the buyer.

When I bought my current coach I spent about 4 or 5 months searching the online listings at least once per day for the right coach. Rvtrader, RVT, as well as craigslist, and a few of the lesser known sites, both local and nationally in the end I found my coach on a Craigslist ad in Florida about a thousand miles away within about 24 hours of it being listed.

RV Trader and RVT.com are without doubt the two that will give you greatest coverage, exposure, and best chances at a sale. Of course many quality pictures and detailed text description will considerably help.

I think one of the most successful places to sell is in your local Craigslist. You may also look at the Forest River website. They have a classified section that allows members to sell.
