I agree as I looked at the "work" done and could not see why anything touched the gas line. I guess my credit rating will find a "glitch" on my records but I don't see me paying anything for this work with the way it was handled by the RV company. It "smells".

Dometic fridge recall involves an additional heat shield PLUS a high temp trip sensor with a modification to the 12V DC wiring (sensor trips/shuts down all 12V DC o fridge........no DC --- fridge shuts down

Propane system is intact/stays intact/has now work done on it
Is it time for your medication or mine?

Have you asked them to show you the regulation in writing and then looked it up yourself to confirm it. I can't see why they have to automatically look at everything else that was working properly that they never touched. I think someone just wanted some extra money.

This "saga" isn't quite over. So 4 months after having the recall done, the RV company sends me notice that I owe them $160 for the recall work. What!!!! No cost was identified at the time of the work and after the work. It appears that they want to "ding" someone for doing a "complete propane line test" because its the "law" in ontario when work "touches the system"... so according to the their work description, when to they touched the one line at the fridge, they now need to test my stove, water heater and other areas of the trailer. Sounds like a good "scam" to me... even Dometic seems rather "unimpressed" / "unaware" of this as they (dometic) only provide $40 for the recall... which from my view seems about right... 30-40 minutes work. Heck I could buy the heating tin for $5, cut it and form it like the one install in under an hour... which I would have done if I would have known this "scam" was going to happen.
So any one doing this type of recall, I suspect especially in canada, be wary.

got the recall completed. Not sure what it does outside of providing some metal flashing around the "heat chamber". Did some "mcgiver" on the drain hose which had disintegrated.... basically got some 1/4 ID / 5/16 OD vinyl tube and fed it thru the drain via the front compartment so I didn't have to take out / move the fridge. It now drains out the side grill onto the ground.... certainly better originally setup.

that may be true in general but like most things in RV land, one is dealing with "independents" who then must get their money from a "distant corporation". I have an email into dometic and will wait a bit.

Dometic should pick up the tab for that... it's their recall.

Yes and yes- no matter which recall you are talking about (there are many). I still run across Dometics that have not had the recall done, and keep a couple of kits on hand.

can you post a picture of what the kit looks like? I have a "potential candidate fridge" (ie. based on model and serial number) but don't know if it has been already done since I bought the trailer used a couple of years ago. thanks
