Remote Start on F-250

It is definitely NOT a Ford thing for the remote start to shut the engine off when you open the door. My Key or not, the remote start should start the vehicle and allow it to run for the programmed amount of time. The Superduty can be set to 5, 10 or 15 minutes of run time. If you want more than 15 minutes, do the remote start routine again before it times out and it will give you an additional 15 minutes of run time.

For the My Key issue, you may want to try turning the My Key feature off and see what happens. I know it caused several issues on my truck when I had it on.

I'm the OP. I tried it: turn key without touching the brake. It worked, engine runs and all dash lights come on. Seemed natural to step on the brake I guess. So all is well.

PS: it is whatever comes standard on a King Ranch.

same for mine as the others, doesn't die when I have it started by remote...maybe the OP doesn't have a factory setup but an aftermarket??

I use hand controls in my 2011 350 which are mounted on the right side so I can't apply brake and turn the key at the same time. My truck has never died unless it timed out. I agree that something else is up with the comment about MyKey because mine has it and it can take a couple minutes for me to get settled before closing the door and the truck stays running.

X3. My 2012 superduty does not act like that. You need to find another dealer as something is wrong with that truck.

Yep. you have to turn the key to run and then put your foot on the brake!

I have a after market remote start on my 2004 F250 and after starting truck remotely I insert my key and turn to run and DON'T touch the brake it will kill the truck also mine is set to only run for 20 minutes before it will auto shut off. I also have a S stamped on my key which required a special by-pass to use the remote start. I had to adjust not hitting the brake after years of driving stick shift's it was habit to hit the brake before starting.....I would make sure you are actually moving it to the run position as a few times I thought I had it and "killed" the truck. I was told that the "killing the truck if you hit the brake" preventing someone from driving without the key in and also it took sometime to remember to set the controls for heat or AC pending on the time of year. I love mine as my truck sits outside as it won't fit into my garage :(
