I ran 12,000 miles, 3 years, on the Tow Max ST Tires. Original on the trailer. Decided to go with Maxxis M8008 based on the reviews. Headed out to the Grand Canyon, up through Utah, and back through Colorado, Kansas and back. Paid $120 each, tax, mount and balance.
The truth be told most people never have a failure or are even aware of the ST tires debated problems…
I have used many ST tires for many thousands of miles including the dreaded Carlisle and never knew of the perceived problem until joining the forums, and never had a catastrophic ST tire failure , except for the OE Duros that came on this trailer that had 3 sidewall failures (none resulted in a blow-out)…
However my research has led me to believe there is an inherent added risk with the tires… that inherent risk is due to the lower testing and certification requirements… the thing is those are the minimum standards and there is NO requirement they not be exceeded…
I believe only one tire mfg. to date has earned the distinction of exceeding those standards, be damned of what all the others were doing to improve margins… so they Maxxis have earned my vote of confidence and my money…
