Replacing dump valves

Either unbolt and rebuild the valves or cut the ABS pipe. You will not get the glued fitting off of the pipe without causing damage.

Cut the pipe and replace the valve..you can use a new short piece of abs and a joint fitting like this...Home Depot, Lowes etc.

But the gray water line just has interconnected elbows rather than pipe. I am going to home depot to get some pieces and I will make it work one way or the other. If I just cut an elbow in half I don't think something will fit right due to the angle. That is why I was thinking about grind cutting it with a dremel.

I will not be using anything permanent to fasten the new TR38. It definitely looks like the manufacturer did it. Not sure if that is standard but I don't like it.

I'd suggest to cut pipe and glue in new couplers and the valve assembly to reconnect.

Do you have pics? There has to be a short pipe joining the elbows together. If you can cut between the elbows you can step it down and then back up again. A bit klugey but might work.

Just Humboldt and change the two valves. You said it was about the same price but just bolting on new valves would be way less hassle.

I have had luck separating glued ABS parts. I cut a slot in the outside part, just to the inside part with a Dremel (or hand saw if there is access.)

Then I placed a screwdriver blade in the slot and twisted. The outside part expanded and the cement was broken away so the part could be removed. A quick dressing of the inside part with fine sandpaper made it ready for the new part.

I have done this several times.

I go to Home Depot near work during lunch and they do not stock any ABS pipe or fittings. None! I know Home Depot sells it online. Weird.

Anyhow I guess I am being stubborn. I can unbolt the new TR38 and leave the back ends off and just rebolt it to the old. Hopefully I did not damage the pipe trying to heat it and get it off.

I forgot to mention another good reason why I opted for the TR38 instead of two new valves. There are no pin connector things on the opening. They used to be there but someone broke them off and clamped a drain pipe on. This trailer was perma parked and rented on occasion. I have another drain valve for the kitchen and it has the same thing so I got a T50 for that one and will put it on the same way.

I have only used the trailer one night so far and dumping the waste water without those pin connectors wasn't fun.

Always been that way. Places that sell primarily to consumers only stock PVC. Places that cater to pros sell ABS and PVC.
