Replacing oven question

I have to replace the range in my TT. Wondering if it is possible to install a cook top and microwave/convection oven below it rather than whole slide in unit? Or if I should just replace whole range? Anyone have ideas about this?
  • Most convection ovens do not have to be vented to the outside in an RV, but they do require some air space. BTW - my cooktop/ oven in in a slide - and it doesn't vent to the outside either.

Your regular over in likely 21 1/2 inches wide. The Dometic 1100W Convection Microwave we added to our TT is 22 1/2 inches wide. We had to alter the trim (cut it away) to have room for the Convection/Microwave.

One thing to consider - without an outside vent - the convection oven will add quite a bit of heat to the inside of the trailer. We've baked whole chickens, steaks, cookies, biscuits, etc in ours - but mainly in the winter.

While the convection adds quite a bit of heat in the summer - it will cook almost anything an oven will - and a lot faster than the over - especially if you use a combination of microwave and convection. So the net heat increase is smaller in my experience with a convection than a propane oven.
  • I have a friend with a Toy Hauler that came with the cooktop/convection microwave combo. Keep in mind that you will need shore power or a generator to use your oven - his Toy Hauler came equipped with a (very noisy) generator. The propane stove/oven combo needs no electricity to operate.

We often boondock without hookups, and if in a campground, breakfast is usually before generator hours. The convection/microwave wouldn't bake my biscuits!

    Best answer so far. :)

The OP needs to give a whole lot more information (make / model / year of trailer, what is the desired outcome, etc.) if he wants informative answers, and a picture would speak volumes.
  • We dry camp about 4 times a year, so the gas stove is a must for us.

but you know what's best for your camping needs. go for it.
