RMP3 REDO QUESTIONS

Did the RMP thing two years ago and was very pleased. I now have a couple of areas where it is flaking off ( guessing I didn't do my prep as good as I thought) My question is will I have to strip the whole end cap or can I touch it up. I'm leaning toward stripping the whole thing and re-prep it all.
I can only find the stripper in 5 gal size for $66.00. I only need enough to do the end caps. What other product can I use to do the stripping?
Thanks in advance for your help
Kyle
  • You can get the gallon in the Zep line if you wish to use that striper.

We only had flaking in a couple places. One was on the front bumper and the other the top edge of each cap but they ever small in size.

We just washed the MH well and when over the spots a few times before we recoated with a couple of new coats over all of the old RMP/Zep.

Never plan to strip for a few few spots that I would have to look for them to find them today.

RMP/ZEP is to protect the skin with a nice acrylic plastic clear coating. Runs, spots, etc non issues if protection is the main objective. :B
  • After 2 years in desert sun, my end cap was flaking 50%. Bought ZEP stripper at Lowes. Thinned it 1 part to 4 parts water. Did a 1sq ft area. Worked good as described. I lightly buffed another area with 3m scruby pad. This still left some rmp3 blotches but all loose rmp3 was gone. I recoated both areas with RMP-3. Could see no difference in the finished product. Buffing was much easier than full stripping. Also concerned about stripper on graphics. It does take a lot of color from graphics. You be the judge. try both methods.
